Q: I recently bought this. But the reception is very poor and noisy. Any ideas to improve it?
A: Return it like I did. Its junk. You can have an aux input installed at a stereo shop that will work much better. I bought a Bluetooth capable stereo.
Q: Can I buy a Bluetooth adapter and get Bluetooth even tho my car doesn't have Bluetooth
A: Yes you can, although I would recommend looking at the layout of the dash, and the cables included with the device before you choose which one to purchase. If your car does not have a USB for the stereo, or an AUX port (looks like the headphone connector on your smartphone) this particular device may work for you. Bluetooth adapters that use FM stereo (like this one) are a good choice if your car does not already have an aux port, but look at the range of FM Stations it uses. Make sure one of the included FM frequencies (FM 87.5 for example) is one that is not already in use where you typically drive. If it is, you may run into issues with interference when you are closer to that station. If you plan on using an Aux port, look at the included cables to make sure they will reach, but not hang down in areas where it would interfere with your control over the vehicle. Most adapters need either batteries, or some sort of DC power jack (Cigarette lighter port). Take in consideration the location of that jack, and the Stereo Aux input to make sure the cables will reach. Once you find the right product, all you have to do is plug it in (if FM, choose the frequency on the device), and then connect your phone bluetooth to the device. It's a simple and much safer way to listen to your smartphone on the road. (if you like to take calls on the road, make sure what you buy has a microphone, or you can position the phone close to your mouth, even when charging)
A: I would not get this product. You may have to get a new radio instead. I think I have to break down and do the same.
A: I think they are on the higher end of the FM scale. If I remember correctly I think it was 107.3, 107.1, 106.9 and 106.7.
A: Pick up the unit that has a headphone jack and digital tuning. It will give you much better tuning options, and the audio quality is better.
Q: Do you need an AUX port in your car to use this?
A: No, it plugs into your cigarette lighter and allows you to connect your phone to it via Bluetooth. You just need a working cigarette lighter style outlet and a working stereo in your vehicle.
