Saw this movie when I was 6 years old, it is still fun. Special effects cant compare with today's movies, but it is a winner.
The Blu-ray provides a definite upgrade over the MGM DVD release.
I loved this movie when I first saw it as a kid and I still like it today.
It is a clean family movie that everyone can watch and enjoy. The special effects were good in 1961 and there is lots of action. The movie has giants, witches, an evil sorcerer, and lots of magic.
If you are young at heart you will enjoy this timeless movie.
For an early 60's movie I saw at the local theater, this one holds up very well
Please do not expect CGI type effects, the color filming is very good,
the special effects were more fun in the older movies, at least the monsters move at a pace you can actually see
