Jaws 3 [DVD] [1983]

  • SKU: 5500692
  • Release Date: 06/03/2003
  • Rating: PG
An ocean-themed Florida amusement park comes under attack from an angry Great White shark in this third installment of the horror series. The film maintains only a loose relationship to the original Steven Spielberg hit, centering on Mike (Dennis Quaid) and Sean (John Putch), the sons of police chief Martin Brody (originally played by Roy Scheider). Mike works at Sea World, where a baby Great White shark has accidentially been let into the park. Soon, the baby's vicious and extremely powerful mother comes in search of her child. The film focuses most of its attention on the series of tense shark attacks that follow, as tourists run for their lives while the park workers struggle to destroy the sharp-toothed beast. The suspense sequences were made somewhat more memorable during the film's original release with 3-D photography, an attribute lost on video, thereby removing the most distinctive element of an otherwise run-of-the-mill sequel.

If you are a fan of 3D movies and love a fun, campy, "horror" movie then this is the blu-ray to buy! The 3D movie is an extra on the disc - which seems strange as its only marketed on the back of the cover as an extra and the quality of the 2D movie is not very good. The main 2D feature quality is extremely grainy. The real 3D is a treat to behold! It's real 3D and not blue and red lenses in cardboard. The main titles alone appeared to stretch across my living room and several scenes have gags that appear to come so far out of the TV that it almost makes you cross-eyed , The move is not as good as the original or 2nd one. It is campy and fun though to watch.

I will say this film doesn't even come close to the first two films! This movie had a great plot, but the horrible acting and very fake special effects didn't help make the film as great as it should have been. I will say the positive aspect of this movie is it still is very entertaining, and I would watch it again. It is just a shame they didn't put more effort into this film that had such a promising plot, but it had such bad aspects that didn't help it. If you are a fan of the original two films, see it, but don't expect anything nearly as great!

    Yay for shark movies!

This movie is delicious. If you have a love of bad animal-attack movies like I do, this is a must-see. If you expect all shark movies to be perfect and realistic every second, with flawless acting, then you have no business watching ANY shark movie. Buy this movie, watch it, get your pants scared off, and wallow in the melodrama!!! It's wonderful!!! :) (And actually, this isn't a "bad" movie; it's very good--especially compared with some other ones out there!) As a side note: this IS a 3D movie, but the 3D effects cannot be seen on a regular TV.

Jaws 3 was a little off the beaten path of the Jaws series, but the actors made it memorable. The fact that it was filmed at Sea World was fantastic, because it makes you think, 'could something like that really happen at Sea World?' The only thing I don't like about it is that it was originally released in 3D, and now when I watch it, it's just not the same experience. The movie itself, however will always be listed as one of my "Cult Classics," even if no one else thinks it is.

I can remember wasting an entire summer watching this movie every day with a friend. Jaws 3 holds special memories for me. The story is laughable and just an excuse for over the top 3-D effects, but it's a good kind of cheese. Louis Gossett Jr. and Dennis Quaid turn in pretty good performances, despite the story. The Blu-Ray has a bonus feature of the movie in 3-D!! Worth it!

You can finally watch this movie the way it was presented in the theaters back in 1983...in 3-D!!! The 3D alone makes this almost unwatchable movie in 2D more enjoyable. I wish they still made 3D movies like this....the pop out effects are so much fun. Plus, since I live right next to Sea World Orlando its fun to watch this movie and see how much the park has chaged over the years

Not sure why it isn't noted on the front of the packaging, but this is, in fact, the 3D Blu-ray release for "Jaws 3". (The 3D version is only listed on the back as a bonus feature.) If viewed as a dumb B-movie ripoff of the original "Jaws," instead of a worthy sequel, it's pretty entertaining; and the in-your-face 1980s 3D effects are a hoot.

The movie is good the 3d is o.k. the normal version of the film is very grainy and not up to blu ray quality. There were parts of the 3d version that also looked grainy in parts of the movie. I have the other jaws movies on blu ray and the picture quality is excellent. i don't no why universal would release jaws 3 in such poor picture quality.
