  • Key Specs
    • RMS Power: 250 watts (The maximum amount of continuous power the device is able to handle.)
    • Peak Power Handling: 1000 watts (The maximum amount of power an electronic device, like a speaker, can handle without damage. This refers to short bursts of power, while root mean square (RMS) power handling indicates the amount of continuous power a device can sustain. Higher levels of distortion can also occur at peak power levels when the device is powered beyond its recommended usage.)
    • Impedance: 4 ohms (Describes the resistance of an electric signal throughout the system. Devices with low impedance require less power to deliver optimal signals but are more at risk for damage from overloading. Higher impedance requires more power but is more protected from overload damage.)
    • Minimum Frequency Response: 35 hertz (Describes the maximum range of frequencies or musical tones a product can reproduce, from very low tones to very high treble tones. The minimum frequency or musical tone the speaker can reproduce. High treble tones have higher frequencies while low tones and deep bass have lower frequencies.)
    • Maximum Frequency Response: 0.2 kilohertz (Describes the maximum range of frequencies or musical tones a product can reproduce, from very low tones to very high treble tones. The maximum frequency or musical tone the speaker can reproduce. High treble tones have higher frequencies while low tones and deep bass have lower frequencies.)

Q: Whats the difference between this and the cx series

A: There is no difference except the dust cap, all the specs are exactly same. The 12 inch GX, CX and CS share the same specs, just different model numbers from JBL Harman.

Q: What kind of amp would I need if I am running two of these in my car. .

A: Any decent 600 watt car amp should drive two of these easily. But if need more headroom, go with a 1000 watt car amp. There are plenty of either of those around for less than $100. Use a separate amp to drive your front speakers and/or tweeters.

Q: What amp can i use with one of these With of course the 250rms 1000peak 4OHM? I have the box i just need the amp but dont know how many watts i need the amp to be

A: Some ppl would tell u to go with a 250 rms Amp that's 1000 peak watts but u don't want to max out your Amp in order to drive the sub because you will have distortion after the gain gets set past around 85%. Go with one that's slightly over recommendations so to answer your question I'd personally would get a 300-350 rms Amp remember to allow time for the sub to get broke in properly otherwise u run risk of not getting the most outta your subs. Also don't pay attention to max/peak watts focus on the RMS.
