Jersey Girl was somewhat panned when it was released and I'm not exactly sure why. This was a time when it was cool to trash Ben Affleck, so maybe that had something to do with it; he had just made Gigli with Jennifer Lopez, so maybe that was part of it. But director / writer Kevin Smith is the voice of Gen Xers everywhere, and as one of those I can say that I loved Jersey Girl. Being a father of a girl myself now, the movie is even more enjoyable and relevant. Smith used his own experiences as a new father to inject real life situations into this movie, and it comes thru. None of the performances are particularly memorable, save George Carlin who answers the call as the grandfather in the movie. In all, it's an enjoyable movie that my wife also really liked.

This movie is totally underrated. If you're a View Askew hawk or plain ole hater, please see this again with new eyes. Kevin Smith said something sweet here without curse words and for an open heart, it rings true and packs a meaningful, selfless punch. This blu-ray is slightly better than most Echo Bridge releases, with pretty good but not great A/V quality. The extras from the DVD are ported over to the blu-ray and like most View Askew productions, comes chock to the brim full of goodies.
