Synopsis

The second season of the animated series Justice League finds the titular superheroes -- Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, the Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and the Martian Manhunter -- continuing to combine their awesome powers to vanquish all manner of villainy, both earthbound and extraterrestrial. As in season one, several of the Justice League's adventures unfold in two- and three-episode story arcs, the better to give the viewer full value in terms of action and thrills -- and the better to explore the various personality quirks and intramural rivalries that are part and parcel of the League's makeup. This season, the League does battle against such familiar comic-book heavies as Darkseid, Brainiac, Lex Luthor (who in one incredible plot strand ends up as President of "New Earth"), the Joker,Harley Quinn, and Gorilla Grodd. Also seen during the season's 26 episodes are a few representatives of the "normal" side of the League members' existence, notably Superman's occasional girlfriend Lois Lane and Batman's faithful butler Alfred. Season two of Justice League wraps things up with a powerful three-part adventure, "Starcrossed," wherein the denizens of Hawkgirl's home planet lay siege upon the human world -- the better to destroy it.

Season 1 of Justice League helped kicked things off. However, it's the 2nd season where things really shine. Season 2 went on and improved the show's animation, added on excellent subplots that carry on such as a growing relationship between Green Lantern and Hawkgirl, and increased eye-candy such as numerous guest appearances from characters from both the Superman and Batman toons, from supporting characters like Lois Lane, Ma and Pa Kent, and Alfred Pennyworth to classic villains like Lexington, Brain, The Parasite, The Joker, and Clay face. New villains arrive as well, such as Eclipse, Dr. Destiny, Dispair, and even Doomsday, the monster that became infamous for killing Superman in the comics. The quality of the stories increased as well. It starts off with Twilight, as the Justice League faces Darkseid and Brainiac(Ron Perlman and Corey Burton reprising their roles from the Superman cartoon). In the center we have highlights such as Hereafter, in which the Justice League deals with the possibility that Superman is dead. Superman, however, is trapped in an apocolyptic future, with a former enemy now his only friend, ally, and hope of getting home. A Better World is a 2-parter that helped set up the main storyline of the 4th season. It features the Justice League battling evil, alternate dimension versions of themselves, led by a ruthless dictator version of Superman you will love to hate. However the true highlight of the episode is an intense psychological faceoff between the two Batmen. Wild Cards features the League facing off against the Joker in Vegas in a hilarious reality TV show homage, as they try to disarm bombs he's planted while also fighting off his henchmen, the Wild Flush Gang, who in a clever touch happen to be voiced by the main cast of Teen Titans. It ends with hands down the best Batman/Joker battle ever, even putting ones seen in the comics to shame. It all ends with the 3-part smash bang finale, Starcrossed, which end with an alien invasion(only fitting since that's what got them together) and a shattering betrayal between one of the League's members. Since the debut of Batman: The Animated Series in 1992, the WB's series of superhero shows that have since been known as the DCAU have continued to prove that animation can be intelligent, thought-provoking, and enjoyable for kids AND adults. Justice League season 2(which is released on the same day is Superman vol. 3!) is no different. A definite must buy.

    Best animated Blu-Ray ever!!!!

In a word...AWESOME!!!!!! There has only been one other great interpretation of the the Justice League comic series and that was the much beloved Justice League/Justice League Unlimited animated series!!! The movie Justice League:Crisis on Two Earths, which is based on the original Grant Morrison/Frank Quitely's graphic novel JLA: Earth 2, tells the tale of an earth overrun by a renegade Justice League called the Crime Syndicate and the only hero on that planet is Lex Luthor, who comes to recruit the heroic League of Earth 1 (even though it's not established as Earth 1 or 2, etc.) The fight scenes alone is worth the price of admission!!!! Every scene leads to a "Holy...!!!!" moment with each battle going from opponent to opponent and I couldn't BELIEVE how violent all the fights were...I LOVED THEM!!!!!! This blu-ray I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND!!! No other animated movie can TOUCH this movie!!!!! Oh and I LOOOOOVVEEEE the special features, including interviews with creators from the DCU, upcoming sneak peeks at future animated movies and the movie as a whole!!!!!! There's really no bad things I can complain about the movie, because I LOVE the Justice League (comic-head, here) and there has never been a bad League movie (hint, hint-don't want one)!! Now if Warner Bros. can even come thisclose to making the live action movie just as good, I'M SO THERE!!!!! Bravo, DCUniverse Animated, keep up the AMAZING movies!!!! You already have a fan for life; keep churning out the hits and I keep purchasing them!!!!

I really enjoyed this movie and watched it with my 9 year old son. We are both big Justice League fans and were happy the day it came in the mail. Great story, lots of action, good animation. However, as a parent, I'm noticing a disturbing trend in the DC animated movies. The use of (in my opinion, gratuitous) profanity. Yes, I saw the movie was rated PG-13 but it says it's for "Action Violence," nothing about language. I expect violence in a super hero movie; that's what they do, they beat up bad guys and bring them to justice. But there is no need for adult language or adult themes. I've seen it in all of the recent DC movies and am hesitant to purchase another for that reason alone. It's sad when children can't enjoy an animated movie about their favorite super hero without worrying about cursing in the film.

This one of the few animated movies with very few plot flaws, great story with great action from the beginning to the end. The Superwoman & Owlman characters are most interesting ones, sure wish they would bring this Superwoman onto other JL movies. These two are like the Joker & Harley of this earth. Top three JL movies: 1. Crisis on Two Earths 2. The Flashpoint Paradox 3. Gods and Monsters

From the creative team to 'Batman: The Animated Series', this 2nd volume to Justice League better showcases the League as law enforcers and their suspicions to their actions. Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman against Lex Luthor and Joker- this is not cheesy 'Super Friends' silliness. Most episodes are 2 part archs that may frustrate, but for the comic book fan or kid at heart these stories are original and sincere than most programs you'd see on TV.

Very good story and great animation. I watched the standard version so if that looked good you know the BD version will be awesome. The acting could have bgeen a tad better by some. As always the story was a comobined/condensed version of a great comic story. Overall VERY well done. My 6yo daughter loved it and she has no knowledge of the comics so it's easy for kids to follow and prior knowledge is not necessary.

Yes, I said it. Evil Superman. He's a complete psycho. In all honesty is was nice to see Lex Luther get some time in the sun instead of constantly being portrayed as the incompetent genius super villain. This is a great film and will hopefully please those Justice League Unlimited fans out there.

This is great. These are the cartoons I grew up watching. Now I can enjoy them with my young son. There is not too much violence or dark stories. And the stories always involve some positive theme or message.
