The Duet 5 is the best & perfect 2in1 Chromebook!
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. The Duet 5 is the perfect 2 in 1 follow up to the older sibling, the OG and smaller Duet. Build quality - Overall is mid to high end all around and very solid. Keyboard: Strikes the perfect balance between light for mobile use but also rock solid sturdy with good key travel. Not backlit. I also own the HP X2 11 but I dislike the keyboard on that 2 in 1. It feels like a flimsy cardboard compared to the nice solid keyboard on this Duet 5. Unlike its smaller sibling or the HP X2 11, this keyboard finally has a magnet, so the keyboard does not shift around once closed. Great improvement here. Back cover: The material has a very similar high end gray fabric feel to the OG Duet, which is very nice. The kickstand hinge is solid but also easy enough to open/close with one hand, which is great. Both the OG Duet and even worse, the HP X2 11 kickstand hinge is unnecessarily tight. Performance Much improved speed of use compared to the OG Duet, but obviously not nearly as snappy as a 11th-gen Intel Tiger Lake i3 like on my Flex 5i. The Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 is also a slight improvement to the first Gen, which is on the HP X2 11. Definitely a noticeable speed difference between those generations in every day use, but unless you are comparing side by side, you really won't notice or care. Overall, I'm perfectly happy with the start up and every day use performance. Battery Life: Very very good battery life. I never tested to depletion, but I would use it all day, light to medium use for work and entertainment (emails, browsing, document editing, YouTube, Netflix, etc.), and would have plenty left in the tank. My guess is that with light to medium use like me, it would last a good 10-15 hrs, lower end of that for heavy video watching. Screen: Last and the 'best' part, the screen quality. Wow! This OLED screen is insanely beautiful. The colors pop and the brightness is more than what you will need, even for the outside. I've got the Lenovo Flex 5i which is a similar 13.3" screen, and this 13.3" OLED screen blows that out of the water. Overall : Very happy with the purchase and performance. Similar thoughts to the HP X2 11, which is that I would avoid paying full price. I'm a Chromebook junkie so I paid full price. :) Be smart and just wait a couple of months if you can, and the price will go down a good $100-$150 for sure. At $350-$400, it is without a doubt, a DEIFNITE buy!

Disappointed....
||Posted .I was on the phone all day about the so-called accessories for this tablet. Lenovo has not yet manufactured the "cover" that attaches to the back of the kickstand. Seems like a rush job to get it in stores so they can make money. And I don't think that the USI pen that Lenovo sells will fit in that so-called cover, so I'm on the fence about returning this item. If this is the case and you can't get the accessories, I might as well purchase the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+

Great battery, mediocre elsewhere
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.First, the good: battery life is excellent. OLED screen looks very vibrant, colors are vivid. And the bad: the 16:9 aspect ratio makes it impossible to use the Chromebook in portrait orientation. They should've cut 2 inches off the side and made it 3:2. If you do try to use as a tablet for reading, the 1080p screen makes text look very grainy at arm length distance. Performance was mediocre at best. Chrome was very slow to respond to scrolling action within webpages, which is pretty worrisome for a ChromeOS device. But worst of all, the keyboard cover doesn't fit. There's a flap that connects the cover to the magnetic strip which attaches to the tablet. The flap is too small/stiff. It doesn't allow the cover to sit on the tablet's screen completely. It pulls it toward the hinge and exposes about 1/4" of the screen's glass. Seems like something that should've been caught and easily fixed with a design change during development of this Chromebook.

||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Had the Duet 10.1 and loved it on my treadmill to watch trail videos while walking/running. Upgraded to the Duet 5 and could not be more happy ! Put this on my treadmill (didn't even take the keyboard out of the box) and WOW what a difference it makes ! I'll keep the 10.1 for couch surfing !

Not perfect, but a solid package for a great price
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I really wish I could give this 4.5. Because, after spending a couple weeks with the Duet 5, I'm pretty happy with it. But there are a few caveats I have that are worth mentioning. Pros: + Screen is gorgeous, very bright and vibrant. I personally don't agree at all with the reviewer who says the pixel density of 1080p is too low for a 13" screen; I think for 98% of people, it's absolutely enough. Great for reading books and comics. + So far, performance has been as good as I'd hoped. Zero issues updating CMS pages and Jira boards for my job. No performance issues with video, no noticeable lag when having 15-20 chrome tabs open. + *Love* the folio keyboard case design-wise, and very happy it came with the tablet. The instant transition from tablet to laptop mode when the tablet clips onto the keyboard feels very smooth. + Battery life is good. Lasts the whole day without issue. Cons: -Tablet by itself is noticeably heavy. Took some time to adjust. - Keyboard is fine but touchpad seems to "stick" sometimes when clicking on rare occasion. Not enough to be a huge problem but annoying. - Sound is...okay but a little disappointing. Can be a little tinny but is acceptable. Lack of an audio jack sucks, though, so the alternative is either an adapter or bluetooth. - Supports USI pen styluses but doesn't come with one. I think it might include one in the international version but not the US version. Overall, some minor quibbles, but certainly a great buy for $500 and does exactly what I needed it to do.

A solid Chromebook tablet with few compromises
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Lenovo surprised me with this. I had read good things about the Duet 3 but wanted something a bit larger for consuming media and surfing the web. Lenovo nailed it again with this. The OLED display is great. Some people may not like the switch from 16:10 to 16:9 but the larger, higher quality panel makes up for that. You get inky blacks and vibrant colors with the display; it really blows away any other tablet or Chromebook in the same price range. The screen is bright, the resolution is good for a 13.3" display, it really is a high-quality panel. The overall design has improved so that the tablet feels more substantial. The magnetic back covers doesn't move and the front keyboard cover is now held closed to the tablet with magnets. This feels like it's a $600 tablet package. There's more than enough RAM to handle multi-tasking and dozens of tabs in Chrome. The updated SoC, now a Snapdragon SC7180, isn't going to turn any heads for its performance but it is beyond the MediaTek SoC used in the last system. The Snapdragon chip can handle anything thrown at it without issues. There's plenty of built-in storage with a 128GB SSD, this isn't slower eMMC storage. Apps load quickly, the system cold boots in seconds, and it instantly wakes from sleep. Lenovo also did something great: increase the battery life. I will go 2-3 days of heavy usage before needing to plug this in. Overall battery life is rated at 15 hours (which is beyond any iPad) and I've easily been able to reach 18 hours by turning the screen brightness down to 75%. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting a light Chromebook and tablet that can go anywhere and easily handle anything a Chromebook can. The tablet is easy to handle, comes with a great keyboard cover, and features one of the best displays in a sub-$900 system. My only gripe is I wish Lenovo threw in the pen. I get why they didn't (cost), but there's an empty slot on the back cover for their pen.

Not generally a fan of Chromebooks, BUT...
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I was looking for an economical laptop with a particularly bright screen and portability. I happened across this model on sale and went for it. The OLED screen is very crisp and very bright (400 nits) The touchscreen is responsive, and the movement is smooth. Some Linux apps are slow to boot, but once up they run fine and things are snappy, even with multiple tabs in play. The magnetic keyboard snaps tightly into place and the keys, while a little spongy, have enough click and resistance to not cause an issue with typing speed. I have since purchased a wireless keyboard and mouse, adjustable tablet stand, and a USB-C hub and they combine to create a very snazzy, effective workstation, while I use the included keyboard when I need to be mobile. Battery life is excellent even with full screen brightness. While I would have liked a built-in micro-SD slot, I won't knock it for not having one because I knew that it didn't before buying. Two C connections get the job done. A very nice unit and I'll say good job, Lenovo.

Lenovo Chromebook Duet 5 - a great tablet/laptop
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This is my 2nd Chromebook. I like the profile of this chromebook and the fact that I can use it both as a tablet and a laptop. The keyboard connects easily and stays in place, even when I'm using it on my lap. The Duet also pairs with my Android phone, so I can get messages. My bookmarks synced easily once I logged in, although in a couple of instances, I needed to log in again. The Duet is lightweight, a little wider than my old Chromebook (13.3" vs 11 "), so I need to use a different bag for carrying, but it's very slim so it fits easily in a tote or a medium-size shoulder bag. One thing to be aware of: sometimes it shuts down unexpectedly (updates). When you press the power button, it doesn't go on instantly, you need to hold the button down for a few seconds, similar to restarting a cell phone, until the Chromebook logo appears.

Q: QuestionSome pictures online show a pen holder that clips on the back and a dedicated pen stylus for the Duet 5. Where can we buy that pen?
Asked by SLCTaylor.
- A:Answer There is not a specific pen holder but I have a pen I bought on Amazon called EZTecho Stylus Pen for $14.95 that works fine, but attaches because of being magnetized to it, just like the keyboard does. By the way, the the “brace” for the also adheres magnetically. What can be considered a pen holder and used for that is part of the “brace”; has a cutout built specifically for that, but most times you’re already using the “brace” for something else. The pen I mentioned before does not fit the cutout and that area is not magnetized.

Q: QuestionIs it dual voltage?
Asked by Abtin.
- A:Answer The Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook, model number 82QS001HUS, is a 110V device. It does ship with a Dual Voltage, 30W USB-C (2-pin, wall-mount) AC adapter/charger with a USA compatible wall side plug. To use this Chromebook outside the USA, you will need to add a compatible wall side plug adapter, compatible with the country that this Chromebook will be used in. This wall side adapter is sold separately.

Q: Question1. This model is advertised with 128GB. Is it normal that the storage capacity is actually 114GB out of the box? 2. Is it safe to use the kickstand cover to cover the screen, so you don't need to carry the keyboard when not in use?
Asked by blackfriday.
- A:Answer Yes. The Chrome Operating System and other installed APPs take up approximately 14GB of hard drive space, leaving approximately 11GB of storage space available to the user. The Kickstand is magnetized and meant to be used on the back of the tablet area.
