Based on the hit movie franchise, LETHAL WEAPON tells the story of classic cop duo Riggs and Murtaugh, as they work a crime-ridden beat in modern-day Los Angeles. Riggs’ penchant for diving into the line of fire clashes with Murtaugh’s by-the-book technique. It’s clear from the moment they meet, that this partnership is doomed. But it might just work. If Riggs doesn’t get them killed first

If you are a child of the 1980's or early 90's you might have had a problem with Lethal Weapon being adapted from a major motion picture franchise to a Network TV series. Before it's debut it was getting blasted across the board by many internet trolls, openly admit I thought the idea was terrible and would be disrespectful to the fans and everyone involved with the films, But after watching the pilot I'm so glad I actually gave it a chance. This series is fantastic and actually expanse on the characters. This is it's own thing and to some degree it's actually much better then the films. For all the stubborn people who will not give it a chance as far as a adaption: Lethal Weapon and Lethal Weapon 2 are awesome 1980's flicks Lethal Weapon 3 is average at best Lethal Weapon 4 is God awful and proof the series had worn out it's welcome. It's also the entry in the series that jumped the shark. The first season of Lethal Weapon as a whole is 10x's better then Lethal Weapon 3 & 4 combined! Matt Miller didn't so much re-boot the characters he re-introduced them, and expanded on all the characters we already know and care about, and did it in a very smart and refreshing way. Even though the tone is more "watered down" TVPG-13, It still very good with plenty of HQ action and humor, Besides the writing the cast is really impressive. Damon Wayans (Roger Murtaugh) When I first learned Damon was cast I thought it was poor casting, But he is a much different updated version of the character, he has always been awesome at balancing action and comedy this role is no different. Clayne Crawford (Martin Riggs) Amazing choice again this version of Riggs has been changed up a bit he's now a former VET turned TX Cop who moved to CA after the death of his wife. At first I hated the mustache it's very 1970's! But he makes it work along with the "hair" always pulling his hair over his eyes. This version of Riggs is actually better then Mel Gibson's version, mostly due the time allowed by a TV series, to explore the character in depth. Keesha Sharp (Trish Murtaugh) Trish has been majorly updated now she is a Attorney Keesha seems to be having a blast with this role you can tell she is trying to make it her own (Trish in the films was a side character to some extent with this series she is being fleshed out) Kevin Rahm (Captain Brooks Avery) Kevin Rahm is a great character actor Captain Avery is Murtaugh former partner Michelle Mitchenor (Officer Sonya Bailey ) Jordana Brewster (Department Psychologist Maureen Cahill) Jordana is very good in this role you have very little to no info on her until the episode that spotlights her stalker then you'll look at her and see her much differently Leo Getz is introduced in one episode and while it's handled much different it works If you enjoy/loved the film series give it a chance it might just surprise you (There's plenty of very smart plot elements and Easter eggs from the films) It's hands down the best Freshman property FOX has aired for the 2016/2017 TV season and somehow was able to find a audience (more episodes were added to the first season) and it's returning for a second season this fall So now is the time for those who wrote it off or just wasn't able to DVR it Binge watch the first 4-5 episodes and try and prove me wrong as a freshman season it's impressive and very enjoyable nostalgia aside 9.5/10
