Using the machine for an extended period of time or leaving detergent in the detergent dispenser draw for an extended period of time can cause a build up of scales and so Yes, the dispenser draw can be pulled out for cleaning. You would have to press down hard on the dispenser draw, pull it out and use warm water to wash the inserts and you can use a soft cloth or brush to clean out any residue...IFV
