A: I did not review the literature, but from what I can tell this item draws its power directly from the iPad itself. It connects via three metal contacts on the side of the tablet. I think it is an objectively cool feature, because you only have to worry about one charger for this device while traveling. I hope this answers your question.
A: I had some problems in this area, too, as soon as I started using it. Once, I lost connection with the cursor, it froze, & I had to remove then reconnect the keyboard. I've noticed that I have to pound the keys sometimes or even use my finger to produce an action on screen. Now that you've mentioned it, I'll keep a log to document these glitches--just in case I have to ask for a replacement Why this happens is beyond me.
