A powerful 2 in 1 in such a small form factor!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a system. I returned a lower spec model (i5/8gb/128ssd) for this since I wanted to future-proof it a bit more and let me tell you it was worth it. Don't get me wrong, the i5 model is very sweet and had no issues with anything I threw at it but the i7 is a bit more powerful and it gives a nice 30-50% or even more bonus to 3d heavy applications or games. Both the i5 and i7 use the Iris Plus which is an intel feature on these CPU's but the i7 has 64 execution units while the i5 only has 48 and that right there is the major difference. You can run most games at 1080p on medium settings with a very good framerate. Now you won't be playing Gears 5 or anything crazy like that but it has no issues with MMO's like WoW, or FFXIV, Albion Online, Warcraft 3 remastered, Starcraft 2 or anything like that. Having the extra ram is also very nice for browsing if you use a ton of tabs and multitask a lot and the SSD is blazing fast. The one thing I was worried about was the fan since the i3 and i5 are fanless and silent. The moment I started doing windows updates on the i7 I noticed the fan kicked in and was pretty noticable but that seems to have gone away and only appears when installing apps or heavy gaming, but the best part is I noticed the system runs a lot cooler than the i5 so you will have almost no throttling like the i5 and you can keep a constant CPU speed for much much longer. All around I'm super impressed with this computer. It's such a powerhouse in a very small form factor and it's one of the best made/looking pieces of tech out there. I would not hesitate buying this again and will stick with the Surface lineup going forward. The only thing it needs is a nice re-design to something like the X but without sacrificing the CPU (ARM yuck). 10/10.

Great for work and personal use!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this machine! This past Christmas I had purchased the I-Pad Pro 12.9" for my bride. I was very impressed and thought about going that direction for my purchase, however due to my business activities and all of my current files being windows based, I made the surface purchase. the portability is awesome, the keyboard I purchased works great as protection for the screen and is super comfortable. During the day this is docked with my other screens and when I'm traveling its great to have the functionality of a tablet. I would definitely recommend. I will say I researched the Surface ProX as well and due to the software compatibility issues they are having with that platform, the Pro 7 for me seemed like a much better choice.

Excellent little device.
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great device. For my wife. Was used for work but after leaving now it’s used for online school at SNHU. Perfect device and works very well. I can even go somewhere or take it to work and it’s small enough to do school work in my car during lunch.

2nd Surface Pro: From 4 to 7
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 2nd Surface, I started with a Survey 4 having used both PC/laptops and the Mac Tablet, I was looking for something that was more of a hybrid - and thus my love for the Surface. Its not the best laptop, nor, table, in the world, yet, to me, it is the best of both worlds in terms of an integrated, multi-use product. I'm a professor, I use it for my work, teaching, research, and personal - a true workhorse. When I'm working at home, or in the office, I connect it to an external monitor and decking station and it meets my needs. Very pleased with my new Surface Pro 7 and was happy to be able use the keyboard and pen from my prior Surface. Pricy, yet worth it!

Made the leap from Mac to Windows
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Five years ago I had a PC and said I would NEVER get an apple device. Then my PC broke and I had a good reason to try out a Macbook Pro. What a beautiful computer! Fast, sleek, and powerful everything I needed. Then just three weeks ago I decided it was time to upgrade and I awaited the good news from Apple about their new Macbooks. But the news never came, and the reviews on their current Mac's were mixed (the keyboard issue made me nervous). So I thought maybe it was time to experiment with Microsoft. The Surface Pro was a unique design, also sleek and had some attractive hardware so I went with the Pro 7 i5. I gave it a run for its money for two weeks doing all of my typical task at work (word, excel, powerpoint) as well as some of my hobbies (adobe photoshop and premiere pro). The Pro 7 handled them all like a beast. I ended up returning the i5 and getting the i7 because I liked the Pro 7 so much that I wanted to ensure I got a good 3+ yrs out of it. Haven't looked back yet. Like any device it has its Pro's an Con's and one device will never please everyone but here are some of my Pro's and Con's: PRO's - Beautiful design and great 2 in 1 device that functions extremely well as both tablet and PC - USB - C and Microsoft's charging cable = extremely fast charging - The premium keyboard is easy to type on and looks great - Stylus is a huge bonus, something I never had with a Mac - Touchscreen is great, useful in almost every situation - Stunning 4k Video - The i7 chip and 16RAM have been able to handle everything I have thrown at it, including a 30+FPS rate on Skyrim - The instant on and Hello Camera are incredible. Cheers to Microsoft for that feature CONs - Battery life just isnt were it should be. I get MAYBE 10hrs out of it with using max battery settings and not using any demanding software - Not being able to iMessage (a big change for a Mac user for 5+yrs) - The i7 does have a fan in it which can be annoying but even at maximum torque the fan is not TO loud and the only time it has been needed thus far for myself is with Skyrim. Has never turned on in my day-day work.

Review of Surface Pro 7
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Highly portable, but a little too heavy to replace an iPad. Great display for reading PDF’s and online text. Touch screen is super useful. Definitely recommend the i7 / 16GB RAM configuration— originally had an i5 and switched it out for the i7 —MUCH faster and more useable with the i7. After one year of use, the Surface Pro 7 completely died - would NOT even turn on - complete brick. Two things saved me - 1) ALL personal files were on the SD card - not the SSD, and 2) we got the Geek Squad Protection plan - saved us the price of a new Surface; I consider this protection plan a must for the Surface Pro (which seems to be less robust than most laptops). Overall, the Surface Pro still fills a niche that doesn’t have an exact equal in the market. If you like the feel of the Pro, it’s the best out there.

Q: QuestionDisk size opinion...I seriously considering the Surface with a 256 HD, but a bit concerned about storage. Mainly between the size of Windows 10 along with MS Office, I don't think there will be much left for actual file storage. Any thoughts?
Asked by aviscomi.
- A:Answer You should be ok, and you have some options if you are using cloud storage like OneDrive. If you configure it properly, most of your storage can be in the cloud with reflinks to the file on your local disk. You can also pick and choose what folders/files will always reside on your drive, so it gives you a bit more flexibility. I used to go with the 1TB drive, for similar reasons, and with the new line of units - 256 has seemed fine. You also can add 1TB of storage using the MicroSD slot as well. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionI'm starting to do more and more graphics work like image editing, video editing, etc. Is there a huge difference in the i5 to i7 processor when using applications such as Photoshop, etc.? I don't want to buy up if I don't have to.
Asked by JusSomeDude.
- A:Answer When it comes to graphics and video editing, the more cores the processor has the better. There are enough differences between the i5 and the i7 for those types of editing tasks that would make the i7 a better fit than the i5, speed being a main difference. There's also more cache memory in the i7 so more repetitive tasks are done quicker. Asked by dave.
- A:Answer It should run Office365 client services without an issue. It's going to come down to your connectivity and ISP in regards to accessing the backend services more than anything else.

Q: QuestionDoes the Surface Pro 7 still have a mini DVI port for attaching to a projector or TV? If not, how do you connect without doing so wirelessly?
Asked by Mosty.
- A:Answer You would need to get the surface dock. Otherwise, you would get the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.
