Q: will this keyboard work with the original surface?
A: Yes. I bought mine for my original Surface RT.
A: I had the same issue in other applications and thought it was a faulty keyboard. Well, Microsoft store (Mall of America) people told me that this mouse pad is designed this way. Drag-n'-drop function has to be done using two hands: one holding the left-click button and another doing the drag on the pad. Very inconvenient.
