Best Bang For The Buck
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendOverall, this is basically another XBOX 360, but on steroids. I have it networked on my Verizon FiOS "n" network and it performs flawlessly. This is my 3rd 360 I have in my home and there is little difference between my other two and this one. The biggest difference is the looks, very appealing and matches the entertainment system, the other is the wireless n, all the other features are also supported on the prior 360s except for Kinect support without the adapter. I went with the 4gb version as it meets my needs as this is primarly my media server for my 60" Samsung Plasma for streaming movies. I also have a PS3, and compared to the new 360 slim, the PS3 network capability can't compare. I do not recommend you go with the 4gb option if you save demos and or install your games, buy the 250gb version as that will meet your needs. However, as a media server, especially for Netflix or streaming downloaded movies from my PC, this was a great purchase for my setup. Do your research before purchasing, but overall, at $209 out the door, you can't beat it. ALSO BE FOR WARNED - THIS IS NOT THE GLOSSY BLACK EDITION, THIS UNIT HAS THE MATTE FINISH. THE 250GB HAS THE GLOSSY FINISH - IF THAT MATTERS IN YOUR DECISION.

Not bad, but not perfect
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendPros: 1. Quiet, you'll never notice it there, the only time it makes sounds is when it's ejecting discs or turning on. 2. Matte finish, personally I'm not a fan of gloss because of the fingerprinting, but it's a personal preference. 3. SUPER LIGHT, It's not unnecessarily heavy like the old consoles 4. WiFi- Glad they finally added that on because I don't want to pay for an adapter or 200 foot long Ethernet cord. 5. Stays cool, doesn't overheat (and i've played Battlefield 3 on multiplayer for 4-6 hours straight at times) 6. Easy to use interface (granted it's a hassle typing things out, but it does what it does very well). 7. Great graphics, i'm not that picky between getting that 2% better graphics, but i mean it's not block-y so i'm content with it. 8. Wireless controller Cons: 1. 4GB memory space 2. No headset 3. Matte finish (I know I posted it as a pro, but 1. it doesn't look as great and 2. people see it and instantly know you took a cheaper route) Now even though there are more pro's than there are cons, let me tell you why the Cons OUTWEIGH the pro's SIGNFICANTLY and why I DON'T reccomend this to ANYONE. The fact that it has no headset means that you have to spend an additional 30-200 bucks to get another headset. But where it really lacks is the Memory. Now as a FPS guy I thought 4GB was enough, and than realized how wrong I was. At the moment, I only own Battlefield 3. After installing the update, setting up my profile/gamertag and deleting some demo garbage, i still had only 2 GB left to spare. 2GB AFTER ONLY SAVING PROFILE DATA FROM BATTLEFIELD AND AN UPDATE. Imagine if I got more games? I couldn't possibly play them all without having to delete one or the other. The fact that it lacks any hard drive at all makes it so you can't install games onto it. At the end, you realize you need to buy a hard drive. I've had mine for a week, and I do love it, but the fact that it's lacking it's own hard drive for better functionality is killing me. I'd only recommend it as a 2nd Xbox that you'd set up in another room for maybe Netflix or to swap HDD's between. It's just really not worth getting. I'm going to return mine once the Holiday Bundle restocks again and buy that. Paying the extra $100(+tax) to get the 250GB HDD + Gloss finish + Headset + Halo Reach (Redeemable online) + Fable III (Eh, not necessarily a console winner, but it is a free game, and I/you might get into it) + 3 months Free Live (I already bought a year's worth so i'll use it in December 2012). Trust me on this one, just pay the extra $100 to get the holiday bundle. Even if the Holiday Bundle soon stops in its production, get the 250GB version, It's so worth it at the end of the day. Now as far more bang for the buck, PS3 is the way to go, $249 for a 160 GB console with wifi, and free online use, it's a pretty good bargain. as far as a better experience, 360 is better. That's just my overall opinion on it.

Just one thing missing...
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI picked up one of the 4GB just because it was cheaper and I said to my self, "I shouldn't need more than 4 GB. " Unfortunately, the reality is that this Xbox 360 simply does not have a hard drive. The 4GB is simply internal flash memory that apparently wont allow you to rip music or do much more than save game data. So I find myself having to get the 250 GB hard drive to put into it anyway. I would have saved myself some effort if I just went with the 250 GB Xbox in the first place. Fortunately, The hard drives are on sale this week so I won't be out any money. Other than this inconvenience due to my own error, I LOVE this system and can't wait to get an HD TV so I can play in HD. I would recommend this product to anyone, just don't be dumb like me and just go for the one that includes the 250GB hard drive.

Great system! Includes much needed upgrades
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendThe 360s is a much improved system compared to it's original offering. The build in HDMi takes full use of the graphics and sound, bringing new life to your xbox games. The 360s also includes built-in WiFi with a faster network connection speed, improving online gaming or streaming video (such as netflix). The redesign also corrects the nearly obnoxious noise of the previous xbox as well as fixing the heating issues which lead to our needing a replacement xbox system. The only real downfall of the basic system is the lack of any Hard Drive Disk (HDD). You wouldn't think 4 gigs of internal memory space would get used up, but with gamer tags, and every game needing to store data, it fills up fast. It also limits the gaming options and online play of many games. I rated it lower in value and functionality because of this. Although the basic 360s is an improved systems over the original, and a seemingly great value, you should really pay the extra money upfront and get the 360s w/ 250gig HDD. You'll end up paying for the 250 HDD anyway!

Better design but still not perfect
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've had my original 360 since 2006. When that one finally got the RROD, I decided to get a new one rather than mess with fixing it. I got the 4GB and used my old 360's hard drive (it works, you just have to remove the hard drive from the old enclosure and it’s a standard 2.5 SATA drive) so that was a plus. The newer xbox is slimmer, quieter, and has built in wi-fi. I am mostly happy with the purchase but do have a few complaints. Some games which spin at high speeds cause the dvd drive to vibrate and make a loud rattling noise, one example being Modern Warfare 2. Mine was so loud I thought for sure the game disk was going to be scratched and unusable, but it wasn't. I even took a video on my phone to show the bestbuy cust service people. I tried several other games and most were ok, only a select few had issues. Since the xbox was only a week old I returned it to best buy and got another one. The second xbox still has the issue, but not nearly as bad. I Googled the issue and found many similar complaints, one saying they talked to an xbox support person who acknowledged the issue with any game which is read at high speed. Pretty annoying for a newly re-designed console. After loading the game to my hard drive, it wasn’t an issue but beware of this if you don’t plan on purchasing a HD. My other main complaint is that it still has an external power supply. If Sony could make the PS3 with an internal power supply all along, why can’t Microsoft do the same on a complete re-design? I find this very annoying when you want to take your xbox somewhere with you and have to move tv stands etc to get to the power supply. I have a ps3 as well and any standard ac power cord can be used which I really like. System wise I believe there are pros/cons to each, but I wish Microsoft would have incorporated the power supply into the new design. My last issue or thing I noticed was that it seems like the plastic they used for this xbox isn’t as high of quality as the original. Maybe it’s just me, but it just feels cheaper. Even the plastic on the power supply is cheaper. The new xbox has only frozen on me once, but I’m not sure if it was due to the game I was playing. Overall, I am happy with the new xbox, but time will tell if this one is truly reliable. My original xbox made it 4 years which is longer than most, but I wish it would have died under warranty.

Buy it buy it buy it!!!!!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWhy are you reading this review go out and buy one, j/k..On a serious note this is truly a worthy system to buy. I sold my old white 60gb pro ( nothing was wrong with it ) to get this model. I loved that it has built-in wifi, it has the one huge fan, the fact that it's much slimmer, and all around a better system then the previous models. I plan on buying a 250gb hard drive for it soon, I would have bought the 250gb model but I hate that plastic look, matte black is so much nicer. So if your looking to buy a new Xbox 360 the slim models are the way to go, if you like the plastic look then get the 250gb model over this 4gb model.

Definatly the most worthwhile Xbox 360 yet.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI really like the Xbox 360 Slim. The 4GB hard drive is OK for novice gamers, but I suggest you upgrade to the 250GB as soon as possible. It is quieter than the old versions, slightly smaller, and does not retain heat, making it less likely to overheat. Only bad qualities are that it does not support Halo:Reach. Several others and I have never been able to get it to play Reach, unfortunatly. There is a fabric tab to remove the hard drive, which will give out after a while if you repeatedly remove it, making the hard drive almost impossible to remove. I still prefer it over the PS3 and the Wii. The HD is great if you have the T.V. for it, otherwise it still has amazing graphics. Unfortunatly Microsoft has not put the NEW controller out it is still the same old controler. Also this version like the previous ones lack a headset. Be careful of the new Red dot of death, since Microsoft has changed the On/Off button, as well as the tray Open/Close button to touch sensitive, the small icon in the center now glows red when there is a software problem. I deffinatly recommend you buy this Xbox 360. it is a great gift to yourself or someone else! Enjoy!! if you want my full review go to. http://reviews.cnet.com/consoles/xbox-360-slim-4gb/4505-10109_7-34147107.html (it is under my other gamer tag of ProXboxPlayer)
