Microsoft - Xbox Elite Wireless Controller for Xbox One - Black

I finally broke down and purchased the Elite controller only after I found an "open box" in my local store. I have never been comfortable with the idea of shelling out $150 for a single controller but the open box classification brought the price down to an amount that was tolerable. The elite controller is a solid piece of equipment and is noticeably heavier than a standard xBox One controller. The package comes with a travel case and really nice, long USB cord for direct connection to the console. An assortment of metal magnetic paddles and attachments for the D-pad and thumb joysticks. You can buy aftermarket replacements for the standard grey paddles but be prepared to shell out another large chunk of money to do so. The controller can store 2 separate game profiles that can be configured from the Accessories app on your xBox. You can create your own or choose from a list of game specific profiles supplied by Microsoft or game developers. You can change button mappings, set the brightness on the xBox One light, and even configure the "action" on your trigger buttons so that you can control how far you need to pull the trigger before something happens. So some of the negatives I have found (aside from the price) is the setup is relatively advanced with regards to the settings you have the ability to change. The accessories application used to do the configuration doesn't offer much in the way of explanations for the settings either so if you don't know what you are doing you will be forced to spend some time looking up information on the web. Finally when the paddles are installed on the bottom side of the controller it is VERY hard not to bump them quite frequently which depending on the game and your configuration can cause problems during game-play. Inadvertently throwing your last grenade or firing a burst while trying to sneak around can get pretty frustrating and after this happens a few times you start to contemplate taking the paddles off turning your elite controller into a $150 basic xBox One controller. To sum it all up, the controller is pretty sweet but for the advanced user. I really wouldn't recommend this for a young gamer due to the price but that of course is up to mom and dad. Just remember, having the controller doesn't guarantee better results! Even the slightest changes in controller configuration will take some time to get used to in game play...

Lots of things to love here. The build looks & feels premium. The customizable thumb sticks are great. Xbox accessories(Windows/Xbox app) allows for multiple mappings of the controller, stick sensitivity adjustments for various games allowing for two toggable configurations. This is the controller to have, period! Yes, it does work for the PS4 however you'll need to have a CronusMax Plus/combo or Xim4 to allow for multiplatform capabilities. This runs only wired though Fyi. So a pretty penny for all to work ;) If you bought this obviously it's for you or someone who games a lot so make sure to buy the additional Geek Squad Protection Plan for wear & tear. Purchased the 2 year option so any issues with the controller you'll essentially be able to replace. Don't drop, spill, throw it though since that's not covered lol. Though I'm sure your opponents will be throwing theirs ;) When I was young & dumb I ended up purchasing several controllers through the years which seriously adds up and this is just smarter/cheaper in the long run. It's not guaranteed however I see this working for at least the next iteration of consoles too (Scorpio) as it currently works with my PS4 Pro as well. In short - Worth it, insure it, take care of it, customize it and have fun!

Just received mine and you can definitely feel a difference in the build quality compared to a normal Xbox One controller. It definitely feels sturdier and has a little more weight but nothing that will cause discomfort. The main deciding factor in buying this controller was how much you can customize the button layout. I've played too many games that don't allow you to change button layout or the preset options suck. So definitely loving that feature. Something i hope Microsoft will add to future games is rather than having to go to dashboard than open the accessories app to map Buttons you could just do it from game's settings. Especially since when you first start a game you don't always know what the controller layout is to begin with. Another option i wish that could be add in the future is to map 2 buttons to the same one. On some games that would be really helpful. If that is something that can be done already i haven't seen how yet. Someone posted it is worth getting the BB warrenty and I strongly agree especially since how much this controller cost. I have had maybe a little over a dozon Microsoft wireless controllers between my Xbox One and 360 in the last 6 years and almost all of them started doing the "stick drift" after some time. Seems like the controllers that come with the system do it the fastest. Maybe it is just me?!? So again $20 is a great investment for $150 controller.

While there are many positive aspects here and I'll attempt to list them all... if you don't need all that skip to the end for the most important statement. The positives... A comfortable heft The rubberized side grips are a welcome addition Adjustable trigger button dead zones Interchangeable analog sticks of various heights and d-pad Additional buttons in the form of paddles that can be mapped as you see fit Ability to switch between two different layout profiles on the fly Despite all that, there are a few downsides. First is the price. $150 is just unreasonably high. And I only purchased it because I had an abundance of rewards. The ability to set macros would have been wonderful. Doesn't use Bluetooth as the S controller does. And the companion app is not very well done it works yes, but its more pages and views than are really necessary to get the job done. Overall if this controller were say $100 I would be more willing to recommend it. Even being premium product, it's not premium enough to cost $150.

I don't know what to say other than this controller is amazing. It weights a bit more than the standard controller which I love, you can feel the build quality. The swappable thumbsticks are magnetic which makes changing them a breeze and the bottom paddles are easily removed so you can run all of them, none of them or anything in between. The included case and USB cable are also very high quality. Will definitely be getting a second one for my backup/guest console!

I had originally started with a scuf controller that barely lasted a year with me rarely playing. Once this controller came out with the original xbox one I instantly purchased it. Ever since I had been a hard core gamer... here I am 3 years later buying a replacement. It took three years for my controller to finally give way. It is worth every dime.

I absolutely love this controller! The settings on this controller are endless. The fact that you can switch out the thumbsticks and D-pad to fit your comfortability and play-style are great! The extra components and hair trigger locks are a plus. You can also personalize your controller and save your settings for which ever game you want it set for. Can't find anything bad to say about it. Like others have said, it feels great in my hands and I haven't been able to put it down! It looks beautiful in the box and comes with a neat carrying case to put it in. It's definitely called "Elite" for a reason.

Microsoft hit this one out of the park! The ease of configuration combined with the best weight and feel of any controller I've ever had in my hands. The paddles take some getting used to, but this controller can and will take your game to a whole new level. 3 different stick styles giving you pinpoint precision for aiming or driving. Did I mention it's freaking gorgeous? Can't say enough good things. 30 plus years of gaming and I found my thrill. Great job Microsoft!!!
