They will work on a ship deck, but once you try to put a few floors between you and the other radio user the signal will be blocked. Others will be using this option as well, so you will need to be prepared for cross talk or spend some time searching for an open channel.
Q: Will the speaker button lock in place to talk and then release when you want for the conversation?
A: No this is a manual button push to talk button.
Q: Can you plug a headset into it? And do they come with a belt clip?
A: This model does come with belt clips but does not have a headset jack.
