Q: Are you able to see through the cabinet doors?
A: Yes but it has 3 nicely heavy tinted glass doors. You can see the DVD LED power come on and you can see other electronics come on... much like a car with tinted windows. You CAN see thru it, but not like clear glass, which looks great and allows all the IR remote contols to work flawlessly. Again black smoked glass doors. At a distance you can not see the items if they are turned off (no Lights). But if I power on an item I can see the LED come on.
Q: What are the dimensions of the shelves-width, height and depth?
A: They are VERY adjustable, so height is totally up to you. As far as width and depth that info can be found on the SPEC page for the BDI 8227-2 which I do not have in front of me at the moment. I can tell you that it will fit most ALL electronics items such as Stereo's, AMP's, VCR/DVD Players, etc... with no problem. Even fits my Panamax M5400-PM perfectly.
