Perfect except for the short story

The worst thing about this game is it is only a rent for it's 8 hour max gameplay. The controls are slightly strange and need to be changed, but after awhile you'll get used to it and be so into the game you will barely notice. On bigger TVs this game actually is way more exciting due to the first person with no HUD, so it will feel more like the user is doing it. After beating the game there is downloadable content for time trials, but that wasn't much to keep me entertained. In conclusion, this game is fun and worth twenty bucks if you have a big TV or friends that you can beat in time trials, otherwise it is just a perfect rent.

An art rarely reached in games

This game is a must have, and during a season filled with amazing games, that might leave your funds a little low. There are few games that I believe reach that level of quality that allows them to be called works of art. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are a part of that rare group. And now, Mirror's Edge. That doesn't mean this game is perfect, but it does mean it's something worth playing and owning in your personal collection. I was playing Gears of War 2 like crazy when it came out, but the day Mirror's Edge released, I haven't touched another game. This game is smothered in it's unique style, from its first person gameplay, to the vivid and powerful colors that ink the landscape or in some cases, don't. The dialogue could be better and teeters, if not falls off, the edge of cliche. But the art direction, both in game and in the animated cut scenes (a refreshing departure from in game graphics or CG), is stunningly beautiful. The music is superb and syncs perfectly with every moment. Combat is hard to get down. Running is really the best thing to do but sometimes you're left with the frustrating wall of taking on your enemies which can be difficult to get down and time for less patient gamers. I could rant and rave about how amazing this game is, but really, see for yourself. This will give any other game a run for its money when it comes to the prestige of Game of the Year.

A Game that is absolutely thrilling to play.

After reading the reviews and watching videos of gameplay online, there was no way I could pass this game up. The entire game is focused on jumping, leaping, running, and using quick reflexes to scale rooftops and avoid enemies. I like that the game is set in a first person style, but has very little use of weapons or violence to avoid enemies. Its mostly disarming them, and running. You could probably get through the entire game without killing anyone if you really wanted to.
There is nothing more thrilling than using a zipline to slide from one skyscraper to another, and then drop and tumble as you go. The scenery is interesting. It has an odd but nice scheme that is pleasant to the eye. And with X-Box 360 you are awarded constant achievements just for completing the levels giving you a higher desire to continue with the game and work harder to complete it. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes the first person style, who wants to shake up their gaming experience a bit.

Great First Person Action/Strategy Game

So I enjoy FPS games very much. But when I heard that was a First Person game with no shooting I was intrigued. It's nice to get away from the constant gore that's put out consistently... as much as I still like that! =P
This game has you utilize strategy instead of hot lead. Although, despite not being a true FPS, you CAN shoot people. You just have to disarm them first!
Health in this game reminds me of Gears of War, in that your health regenerates when hiding from gunfire/melee attacks. But you can die pretty quick as well, 3-4 good hits on you and you're done. I like this though, more realistic than something like Gears of War where you can take about 20 bullets and be halfway in the red.
Overall this is a very solid game. The graphics are clean, smooth, and stunning. Inbetween levels/chapters you get a cartoon of the characters in the game that unfolds the story a bit more. The story itself is pretty engaging as well. Controls are simple, but take some getting used to as I doubt you've played a game like this before! And at $20, why not take a chance on it? Chances are you'll enjoy it.

a definite must!

I downloaded the demo for this game a few days ago and I must say, THIS GAME ROCKS!! I've always been more of a racer/shooter fan for the most part, only recently started getting into the guitar hero style games, but my goodness, this really is like NOTHING I've ever played before. The graphics are fantastic, story is solid, and gameplay is PHENOMENAL!!! Remember the times playing assassins creed when you barely made that ledge and said "Holy cow that was sick".......well multiply that by about 15 and you have this game. The fact that this is first person just makes it THAT much better. It's "runner vision" aspect greatly aids you when you're on the move, but at the same time it doesn't cheat for you by allowing you to make a certain jump perfectly.....in fact......having good timing is crucial to landing those giant leaps of faith from the rooftop of one building to the bottom of a pole hanging on the side of another. All in all I must say, I will DEFINITELY be buying this game the day it comes out, and I hope my review will help you decide as well. Cheers!

Greatest game ever made

I am a huge fan of this game I love it so much. I bought it about 3 days ago to enjoy it as my Christmas Present. It is the best Christmas present I have ever had ever. This game is great the graphics are amazing, the plot is out of this world, and how you can find other ways than just one way to get somewhere you need to be is just extraordinary. This is the greatest game I have ever had in my whole life of my Xbox360. The only down side to Mirrors Edge is that the story is to short. At the end you will be wanting more and more to play on and on in different maps and so on like Assassins Creed. Except the story just finishes off even though I haven't finished the game. I am currently on Chapter 5. Also the difficulty of this game is just extreme. Especially when you die in a couple of hits. I was amazed with this game and I would give it a 5 out of 5.

I really can't think of anything bad about this game. It is a solid experience - very cohesive and well-put together. This game should really go down in history for the best usage of color in a game.

i first started off thinking it should have been better but then i realized they don't really tell you where to go so it is mostly a independent game which i just oh so happened to like. the story wasn't that good but the gameplay was awesome!!! there are so many moves to string together! i also liked how getting achievements were easy. the graphics are amazing in 1080 HD. i wish though that you got to choose guy or girl and choose different clothes but the only problem is that it is first person so that wouldn't work out. the game is hard yet fin and i loved it!!!!!!!!!
