MONSTER TRUCKS was Such a huge surprise and most entertaining movie! My mom and I both loved this movie, it had us laughing and crying and wishing it wouldn't stop. the cast is great - LUCAS TILL is a gem and this is such an inventive and fresh story! I just loved how emotional the CREATURE is and how quickly I fell for him and wanted him to succeed! The CGI effects are awesome and I hope they do a sequel - Id go see it in heartbeat! This is a great family movie! Im glad I have it in my collection!

Here's how an idea comes about: Idea room guy #1: we love monster truck rallies! Idea room gal #1: remember ET? We LOVE ET Idea room guy #1: what if we did a movie about ET driving a monster truck! [momentary pause for consideration] Idea Room Gal#2: YEA! Let's do it. And...that's basically it. Lonely Kid and cute alien bond, evil adults threaten cute alien and lonely kid helps cute alien get back together with its people. It's a tried and true formula but...it works when done well. What monster trucks has going for it, more than anything, is not that it does its formula well (it does it decently...nothing innovative or groundbreaking). It's that in this era of pushing limits of appropriate content for general audiences, it doesn't. It gets away with minimal violence, minimal swearing and minimal boredom. In short, it's a good movie for the entire family or anyone looking for clean content (yea, come on...we can't always want Predator or 50 Shades or whatever...admit it...lol). Could it have taken some more chances? Sure! Is there potty humor...yea...little bit. Kids love that though...and it's pretty clean. So, if you want a nice clean safe movie that won't destroy your emotions like Disney or Pixar enjoy doing this is the movie you want to gather the family around, pop some corn and enjoy the experience. Cuz...ya know...cute aliens. monster trucks. Good mash up!

Okay, maybe it's not a true 5-star film, and if you go into this expecting to be blown away, you'll probably end up disappointed. But, as one of those films that will keep you watching along without losing interest while your little one goes ga-ga over the trucks and lovable "Creech," Monster Trucks ticks all the boxes. This was my son's first "in-theater" film at 3 years old. As 3 year olds are known to do, I worried it might end in chasing him through the aisles if the movie failed to keep his attention. Instead, he was talking about it long after we left, and ended up promising him the movie for his 4th birthday. He was ECSTATIC to get his Monster Trucks movie, as well as 2 included wall stickers. (Note: copies without the blu ray jacket make no mention of including the stickers, and the store I purchased this at had no more with the jacket. Uncertain if copies without the slipcover include these or not). Fact is, someone mucked up when they shelved Monster Trucks for a long period before putting it in the theater. Creech is fun, there's plenty of truck chases, action, and humor. The best part of the movie, as good as it is, is looking over to your car or monster (or both) loving child, and seeing them enthralled and having a great time. A perfect movie for parents and kids!
