Director Christian Rivers’ post-apocalyptic fantasy-adventure film is an adaptation of Phillip Reeve’s 2001 steampunk novel of the same name. In a dystopian future where entire cities have been motorized and placed on wheels, a mysterious young woman sets out to correct the course of human civilization and to discern the reason for her mother’s murder.~Augustine Chay
Welcome to London in this 5-part, behind-the-scenes look, filmmakers reveal the secrets behind the ambitious undertaking of putting an entire city on wheels
I was very impressed with Mortal Engines from the moment the first image hit the screen. The story is unique and engaging. Every scene is brilliantly filmed, acted and directed down to the smallest detail. This is a must see for sci-fi fans.
the plot manipulating with the earth being controlled by monster trucks and hidden cities made a great story line as good evil and in between motivated good hard hitting fun renegads and nomads come to mind watching the new plotted film im sure it did well at the box office
First of all, I didn’t have high hopes for the film due to reviews I read when it was first released at the multiplex..so I never saw it at the theaters. Recently, I have read about how beautiful the 4k transfer is and people using it as a reference disc for their 4k setup. Man! It’s is a gorgeous picture-those reviews were correct. I don’t know why the film itself got knocked at its release, but I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Now, I never read the book so I had nothing to compare the tale to. But I really like the film. It has all the touches of a classic Peter Jackson film. A sense of wonder, a sense of awe-magical and whimsical. A great fantasy flick. This is one movie I could kick myself for not catching at the theaters.
I realize this did not land on the Critics best movies of the year list, but if you put away all the preconceived notions of “I am not gonna like this flick”, and just grab your popcorn and sit back, I think you will have a good time. Well acted, sometimes great visuals, special effects and interesting storyline, it can actually keep you entertained! Considering this was put together by Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings fame, it held up quite well for this popcorn movie junkie.
The film itself is probably a 6/10 type of movie, somewhat forgettable. But the quality of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray is outstanding. The online community has listed this as one of the best looking Blu-rays you can buy. After watching it I have to agree. The HDR quality is leaps and bounds ahead of any other disc I own. The way images pop will catch the attention of any viewer, no matter how disinterested they are in image quality.
I would highly recommend for anyone that wants a show-off movie. But again, the movie itself is just "meh".
Movie left some to be desired, especially given the level of talent behind the film. With that said this 4k transfer in beautiful to look at and the sound track is awesome! That alone makes this movie a must watch in 4k. It's shame we will probably never get to see how this cinematic story comes to an end.
