Stable, reliable, fast and not too powerful

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Connection quality, Speed, Xfinity serviceThis Wi-Fi Router works well with the xfinity internet service. It powers on fast, the default settings are quite alright and is easy to be further configured (password change, etc.). It won't crash during operation so it will give you steady fast WiFi / ethernet connection with no headaches. The signal strength is decent for a small house but will not be enough for a big mansion. The 5G means it also offers the 5GHz in addition to the 2.4GHz band. I already connected 2 phones, 2 laptops, 1 tablet, 1 Roku and 1 Chromecast plus my neighbor is using the guest profile and had no issues so far. Am not giving 5 stars because the WiFi signal strength should be slightly higher.

So far so good! Works with Optimum!
|Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:PriceCons mentioned:InternetI recently installed internet in my home and opted to use my own modem/router since Optimum charges $10 a month to RENT theirs (no thank you!). I decided to go with this one after reading reviews and checking to make sure it was compatible with Optimum’s service. The only issue I had which isn’t directly related to the actual modem/router itself is that though it is compatible, one of the Optimum reps tried to tell me that it wasn’t “approved” and I would need a different one. Fortunately, another rep made it happen after I expressed some dissatisfaction with their service. Hate to be that guy, but of course they’re going to make it seem like their routers are the only ones that work since they make money off of them. Not sure what went on there, but in short this modem/router does work with Optimum if you’re willing to go through a bit of a hassle in case a similar situation like mine arises!

Better than stock Spectrum Modem/Router
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5This router gets the job done. It can handle multiple gaming consoles and other devices on the wireless internet and has good range. I use it to stream live tv on my Xbox on the first floor (router is on the 2nd). It was simple to setup, simply unplugged everything from my old router and attached the cable wire, power supply, and ethernet cable. You do need to contact Spectrum so they can "activate" the router which is always a pain, but other than the hold times it was quick and painless!

Motorola cable modem
|Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I had an older similar Motorola that finally bit the dust. Needed a quick replacement so I went to Best Buy and bought this Motorola cable modem. This is one modem that's approved for use by Comcast. Swapped out my old non-working modem with this one and was up and running in minutes. Setup was really easy. I've been using this modem for wifi for my laptops for a few weeks now and it's working great.

Great Wifi Router!
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I previously owned an earlier version of this Motorola Surfboard Modem sans Wifi & dual band. This modem/wifi router dual band combo fits my needs exactly. Can separate devices by band either 2.4 or 5 Ghz to eliminate slowing. I live in a 1,600 sq. ft. home and works great throughout. Eliminates the need for 2 devices (Modem & Wifi router) plus I'm not having to lease a unit from the cable company. The old unit still worked but really needed this updated version. Because of the reliability from the prior model it was easy to make the decision to buy this one. Cost savings + efficiency!

Q: Questionwhat else do i need to to buy to connect this to my xfinity internet i have
Asked by kim.
- A:Answer This is a combination router and modem. Essentially, just connect the threaded coax cable to the back of this unit, follow directions to setup the router portion, then just call Comcast to associate the modem with their service (they'll ask you model number and MAC address, which is on the unit).

- A:Answer No don’t buy it. It can’t be used with Fios. I made the mistake of buying it and didn’t return it in 15 days so I couldn’t get a refund. Very disappointed.

Q: QuestionDo i need to contact the cable co to get this to work and is it a modem as well as Wifi ?????
Asked by hp.
- A:Answer You may need to contact your INTERNET PROVIDER to get this to work and be sure that you have paid to receive service from them. Have their tech support number on hand if your router is not connecting (keep in mind that a new router may take a while to fully connect to the network, don't panic if 10-15 minutes go by before it's fully connected). This router is indeed a WIFI ROUTER and MODEM. It does NOT come with a Coax cable which you will definitely need to connect your router to the wall in your home or office. You will need to purchase a coax cable separately. They are not super expensive. Just google "coax cable" and you should find plenty of options for purchase. This router comes with set up instructions to help clarify things.
