    Synopsis

    National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Chevy Chase, star of National Lampoon's Vacation and its sequel, is back as the paterfamilias of the Griswold family (including Beverly D'Angelo as his missus) to skewer the Yuletide season. Chevy mugs, trips, falls, mashes his fingers and stubs his toes as he prepares to invite numerous dysfunctional relatives to his household to celebrate Christmas. Amidst the more outrageous sight gags (including the electrocution of a cat as the Christmas tree is lit) the film betrays a sentimental streak, with old wounds healing and long-estranged relatives reuniting in the Griswold living room. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation was still capable of attracting an audience five years after its release -- it was one of the top-rated seasonal TV specials of 1994, outrating even the first network telecast of It's a Wonderful Life. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

So This has been one of my Fav movies since I was a kid. It Seemed that it would Be only Normal to get This on blu ray.. So whats it Look like? For a movie this old that was never made with HD in mind. it really looks great!! Warner Brothers' 1080p, 1.851 Blu-ray presentation of Christmas Vacation is the best I've ever seen this film look. However, the image retains what has always been a rather flat look. Surprisingly, this looks fairly good overall. It's nothing spectacular, but I was expecting much less, something around the range of a 1.5-2 star rating. For a 15+ year old comedy, it looks fine. Detail is pretty high. Flesh tones look solid enough, colors are moderately vibrant, and black levels appear fine, but not magnificent. The print is mostly in good shape. There are some pops and nicks here and there, especially in long distance shots, but on the whole this one looks good. Outdoor scenes fared especially well. I can't say this is worth an upgrade if you have the recent special edition DVD, however, as any improvement gained over an upscaled presentation is almost negligible. Christmas Vacation is presented in a Dolby Digital 2-channel audio track only. What is there to say, really? It sounds fine, all things considered. There's not much in the source material to work with, and it's very front heavy with the vast majority of the sound emanating from the center channel speaker. Obviously, there is very little ambience or activity from anything in the rear, but there are a few effects and music bleeding into the left and right front channels. There is little to no bass to be heard. As a dialogue driven comedy, not much more is to be expected. Said dialogue comes across pleasantly enough; there's nothing that ever really distracts from or hinders it. I cannot say this is a disappointing soundtrack because I expected so little from it. As such, this Blu-ray disc sounds fine.

This is a remastered edition of Christmas Vacation which was released on Dec 1st 2015. I had read a positive review of this that told me this edition had been properly remastered to provide a much improved video quality over prior blu ray releases of this film. I had checked the Best Buy website a few times in December as I wanted to purchase this to watch with family at Christmas, but this was not listed on the website. Then a couple weeks before Christmas I was in a store and was walking through the movie aisles and found this on the shelf. The review of this disc that I had read was correct, the video quality of this blu ray is much better than prior BR releases. The studio did a great job of remastering the video, but they did not remaster the audio - this disc has only stereo sound, not multi-channel. Still a great comedic film to watch during the holidays!

Love the movie and was excited about finally getting this on Blu-ray. Unfortunately, it appears that no effort was taken to actually remaster the picture to hi-def. I might as well have been watching a DVD, circa 1998…seriously - very soft picture with visible grain/noise and you could actually see the image move left to right & vice versa a little, at least at the beginning. No discreet DTS or Dolby Digital soundtrack, either, but not that there is a lot of anything going on in the surround channels. Thankfully, the movie was under 9 bucks, but I would have been happier if I had paid 5, OR it had been given to me as a gift. Hopefully the folks at Warner will remaster this for the 2015 Christmas season, but not holding my breath. Buy this ONLY if you don't have it in any other format AND it's well under $10, otherwise you are almost better off finding it on TV and recording to DVR.

One of the pinnacles of holiday entertainment gets a high definition release in a Blu-Ray/DVD combo and steelbook (no digital copy, unfortunately). Some stuff is dated, but the majority of the movie comes down to the adventure and the performances. Chevy Chase, again, shows a penchant for losing his mind in the most hilarious of fashions, and being the atypical father figure that cannot easily let things go. We also get various other acting performances that are great, the best of which goes to Randy Quaid's Cousin Eddie. This movie is up there with Bad Santa and Scrooged as being the sort of Christmas movie that will draw in the adults for holiday entertainment.

The movie is obviously a classic. There is no debating that, so I wont waste any time telling you what you already know, the movie is AWESOME. The disc on the other hand leaves something to be desired, which is why I rated this 4 stars. Although the blu-ray is a step above the DVD as far as the picture quality is concerned, you are limited to the condition of the source material which is starting to show it's age. I wouldn't call it bad, but it could be better. The sound is also relegated to a Dolby Digital-Plus 2.0 Stereo mix. All be it, this isn't a huge blockbuster action flick, I think they could have done better than stereo. In short, if you are a fan of the flick and want to watch it in the highest quality you can get your hands on, then buy away. That is what I did and I wouldn't say I am disappointed. I just think they could have done better.

This is the funniest Christmas movie I have ever seen. Chevy Chase is back as Clark Griswold and he is one of the funniest actors ever. He will have you laughing from start to finish in this movie. Randy Quaid is also in this movie and he is histerical as well as Uncle Eddy . The story line is great and the actors work well together. This movie is hilarious from start to finish. Some movies you get burnt out on and watch them again but not this one you will watch it every Christmas. In my opinion this is the best Vacation movie they made. Own your piece of Griswold history in this hilarious classic on blu-ray. The blu-rayy looks and sounds better than the SD DVD.

The film has held up over the years Still funny Two actors who had smaller roles Julia Louis-Dreyfus & Johnny Galecki went on to huge TV fame Difference in picture none between DVD & blu ray Now, here is what I am disappointed about with this package. OK, the Vacation films have been released multiple times on VHS, laser, DVD & now blu ray. The product packing does NOT mention Johnny Galecki in it with "The Big Bang Theory" a top 5 show BUT it mentions Juliette Lewis who has not done a thing in years & her success was in this film & in the 1990's Same commentary used on other releases Disappointing If you are a fan of the film & want this on blu ray then buy it The extras, unless you do NOT have a previous release of the film you will be just as disappointed as I am

I bought this specifically because it was the 1st version I had seen with a digital copy. The picture on the website, and Description at the time of purchase showed Blu-Ray/DVD/ Digital copy. When the item arrived there was no indication on the package of including the Digital copy. That was the only reason I purchased the item so I returned it to my nearest store. Not having complete Descriptions of Specs and items included for every item I have looked at on your website has caused this loyal shopper to go somewhere else 99% of the time. Also poor shipping time frames has disappointed me. Your company takes at least 2 weeks to deliver items. Currently the slowest company I have found
