A: Yes, it can. I bought it for my Apple Watch series 5.
A: Hi Grannyof6, I have a 38mm series 3 and was told the 40mm nike sport band would work. It could not get it to "click" or lock into place; it kept sliding back and forth. You may want to go into the store for help. I had to return my band and stick with the original that came with it. :-(
