  • General
    • Brand: Nikon
    • Model Number: 27709
    • Product Name: 1 J5 Mirrorless Camera with NIKKOR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD Zoom Lens
    • Color: Silver
    • Camera Model Family: Nikon J5
    • Digital Camera Type: Mirrorless Camera with Lens
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Low Light/High Sensitivity: true (High sensitivity digital imaging devices are designed to work in low light conditions to produce a high dynamic range image.)
    • Image File Format(s): JPEG, RAW (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 1/16,000 sec. (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Minimum Aperture: 16 (The smallest opening of a lens, typically expressed in f-numbers. The larger the number, the smaller the aperture and the less light that can enter the lens. A smaller aperture creates a larger depth of field, which keeps both foreground and background in focus.)
    • Maximum Aperture: 3.5 (The limit to how wide a lens can be open, typically expressed in f-numbers. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture and the more light that can enter the lens. A larger aperture creates a shallower depth of field, helpful for keeping subjects in focus and blurring background details.)
    • Minimum ISO: 160 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. When there is plenty of light, using the lowest ISO setting available will typically result in a higher quality image.)
    • Maximum ISO: 12800 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. In low-light environments, using a higher ISO setting helps to capture a sharp, bright image.)
    • Maximum Expandable ISO: 12800 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. Expandable ISO settings use software to simulate brighter images than the device's native ISO range is capable of capturing.)
    • Brightness Control: true (Allows the camera to adjust the brightness of a captured image for optimal exposure.)
    • Burst Mode: true (Also referred to as continuous shooting. This feature captures multiple shots in rapid succession.)
    • Self Timer: true
    • Self-Timer Delay: 10 seconds
    • Shooting Modes: Advanced movie modes: HD movie, 4K movie, time-lapse movie, slow motion, jump cut, fast motion, 4-second movie; Auto photo mode and more (Exposure modes employed by the photographer to control the optimal aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other settings for capturing specific subjects/scenes. Examples include Aperture-Priority, Macro, and Manual modes.)
    • Panorama Mode: true
    • Scene Modes: Portrait, night landscape, landscape and more (Exposure modes with predetermined optimal settings for capturing specific scenes. Examples include Landcape, Portrait, and Sports modes.)
    • White Balance Modes: Auto, incandescent, fluorescent, direct sunlight, flash, cloudy, shade and preset manual (Settings that calibrates how the color white is rendered in an image/video, reducing the appearance of unnatural contrasts caused by various light sources.)
    • Effective Pixels: 20.8 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • Lens
    • Lens Mount Compatibility: Nikon 1 (CX)
    • Lens Type: Standard Zoom
    • Minimum Focal Length: 10 millimeters (The minimum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The shorter the focal length, the greater the area of scene captured.)
    • Maximum Focal Length: 30 millimeters (The maximum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The greater the focal length, the smaller the area of scene captured.)
    • In-Lens Image Stabilization: true (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. Lens stabilization means an element within the lens moves automatically to counteract detected motion.)
    • Lens Series: Nikon E (The product group that the lens belongs to, based on similar shared features.)
    • Lens Model Number: VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM

Q: I am lost have not follow new technology What is mirror less camera??

A: Traditional DSLR digital cameras use mirrors and/or prisms to reflect light from the lens up to the camera’s viewfinder. With mirrorless digital cameras like those in the Nikon1 series, light passes through the lens directly onto the camera’s sensor. Because of this, the Nikon1 J5 features a rear LCD but does not have a viewfinder. Mirrorless cameras like those in the Nikon1 series are much lighter and more compact than DSLRs. However, like DSLRs, these cameras support interchangeable lenses and offer more advanced optics and tools than those found in COOLPIX compact digital cameras.

Q: I have had two Coolpix cameras, which I absolutely adore. I'm ready to step up to a DSLR. Is this camera as user friendly as a Coolpix? Would it be a good beginner camera for me?

A: Yes it is. This was a gift for my mother who needed one that is made for beginners and can easily transition for the more experienced. It's functions are simple and easy to follow.

Q: Can you buy a different strength lens to attach at a later time?

A: The Nikon 1 J5 is an interchangeable lens camera. Nikon has many great lenses that it offers in the 1 NIKKOR line. Nikon has the 30-110mm for longer reach. It has the 10-110mm for an all around lens that is great for many things including shooting video. It has a power zoom switch that gets you smooth zooming transitions while shooting video. Check out BestBuy.com for the great 1 NIKKOR lenses that they sell!

Q: On the Nikon -1 J5, what is the battery life on the camera and is there a separate charger?

A: This model does come with a battery charger and the battery life is 250-300 photos.

Q: i have a Nikon D5000 SLR and i own 3 lenses. can i still use them with the Nikon J5?

A: All I know is you have to use non-mirror lenses, for that model. However, there are adapters that can help make any lens possible to use with the Nikon 1 models. Search the following: Mount Almost Any Lens on your Nikon 1 Camera with Fotodiox Nikon 1 Lens Adapters I saw that they (Fotodiox) build adapters for any kind of brand. Hope this helps.

Q: What does this whole package come with? Ex: lens? Charger/battery? Case? Strap?

A: The package comes with lens, camera cap, camera strap, charger, battery, USB cable, booklet. You will need to buy MicroSD cards and a case if you want to put the camera in one.
