Truthfully, you don't need to go to Best Buy to get this card, buy you should prefer to. You COULD simply buy what you want by putting your credit card information into your Wii U/ 3DS console but going to get a prepaid has two advantages. Firstly it gets you points for Best Buy's reward program and second it keeps your credit card information anonymous/ out of the reach of stupid kids who might buy games without your consent because the info is already pre-loaded on the console.

Nintendo eShop Points

It's just a prepaid Nintendo eShop card where you can add credits or points to your digital wallet on Nintendo eShop on your either your Wii U or Nintendo 3DS. Everything works as it should, just like any other prepaid cards/credits you buy for other digital download stores or mobile phones. It's scratch ticket style where, on the back of the card, there's an area you have to scratch to view the key code. Then you enter that in the eShop balance section. Easy process. Although I purchased the $35 amount because I needed that amount. I just wish there was a $10 amount, but the lowest amount they have is the $20 one. There's also a $50 one too. The eShop does allow you to purchase items with a credit card, but I prefer to use these eShop prepaid cards. It would be really cool if we could adjust and customize the amount of points we want to add the eShop. For example I could split the amount on the 3DS eShop, then use the rest on the Wii U eShop since different games I'm interested in purchasing are released on the other system, etc. That would be a really neat feature that could be done through a software update for the eShop though. But the cool thing is that you can use the card on either the Nintendo 3DS or the Wii U where as before this, they used to sell cards that only supposed to work on specific systems. Now there's more compatibility. So that's cool.

It's exactly what it says it is, $35 in Nintendo eShop credit. great for parents who want to let their kid get Wiiware or similar games but don't trust them with credit info.
