  • Key Specs
    • Product Weight: 11.7 pounds (The out of box weight of the item.)
    • Resolution: 4K (2160p) (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to capture video/images. The higher the resolution the finer the detail that can be seen.)
    • White Brightness: 2400 lumens (Measurement of the device's white light output. The more lumens, the brighter the output. In large and/or well-lit environments, such as auditoriums or rooms with plenty of natural light, a higher brightness improves the quality of the projected image.)
    • Contrast Ratio: 50,0000:1 (Measured difference between a displayed image's brightest whites and darkest blacks. The larger the first number, the more detail and color that can be displayed.)

    • Resolution: 4K (2160p) (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to capture video/images. The higher the resolution the finer the detail that can be seen.)
    • Resolution (Native): 3840 x 2160 (Native resolution of a screen refers to its single, fixed resolution. Sometimes screens must scale an image up or down in order to fit the native resolution. This can cause a loss of resolution or detail.)
    • White Brightness: 2400 lumens (Measurement of the device's white light output. The more lumens, the brighter the output. In large and/or well-lit environments, such as auditoriums or rooms with plenty of natural light, a higher brightness improves the quality of the projected image.)
    • High Dynamic Range (HDR): true (An HDR-compatible 4K TV or other HDR-compatible product displays HDR video content when it's available from sources like 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs and 4K streaming services.)
    • Contrast Ratio: 50,0000:1 (Measured difference between a displayed image's brightest whites and darkest blacks. The larger the first number, the more detail and color that can be displayed.)
    • Aspect Ratio: 16:9 (The measurement of the width of a screen compared to the height of a screen, expressed as a ratio.)
    • Throw Ratio Range: 1.21 - 1.59:1 (This measurement indicates what size of projected image can be produced from a certain distance. The smaller the ratio, the closer the projector can be to the screen while still producing a large image.)
    • Digital Keystone Correction: false ("Keystone effect" refers to the distortion of an image when it is projected on an angled surface or when the projector is positioned too high or too low from the center of the display. Projectors with a digital keystone correction feature are able to scale the image as needed before it is projected, resulting in the correct image orientation no matter where it is displayed.)
    • 3D Technology: false
  • Viewing
    • Minimum Projector Distance: 3 feet (Minimum distance that the projector can be placed from the screen to produce a display with acceptable visual performance.)
    • Maximum Projector Distance: 35 feet (Maximum distance that the projector can be placed from the screen to produce a display with acceptable visual performance.)
    • Minimum Viewable Screen Size: 34.1 inches
    • Maximum Viewable Screen Size: 302 inches
  • Features
    • Projector Use: Home Theater
    • Remote Control Included: true
    • Computer Compatibility: Mac, Windows
    • Kensington Security Slot: true (This security feature consists of a small port on the device that allows for the connection of an anchor and security cable, typically secured with a key or combination lock, to prevent it from being easily carried away.)
  • Exposure Control
    • Focus Adjustment: Manual (The method used to focus the device in order to view or display a sharper image.)
    • Minimum Aperture: 2.5 f/ (The smallest opening of a lens, typically expressed in f-numbers. The larger the number, the smaller the aperture and the less light that can enter the lens. A smaller aperture creates a larger depth of field, which keeps both foreground and background in focus.)
    • Maximum Aperture: 3.26 f/ (The limit to how wide a lens can be open, typically expressed in f-numbers. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture and the more light that can enter the lens. A larger aperture creates a shallower depth of field, helpful for keeping subjects in focus and blurring background details.)
    • Optical Zoom: 1.3x (The optical zoom uses a combination of lenses that magnify the image prior to it being registered at high resolution by the imaging sensor.)
    • Digital Zoom Capability: true (Projectors with this feature allow for digital adjustment to the projected image size without changing the location of the projector.)
  • Connectivity
    • Number of HDMI HDCP 2.2 Inputs: 2 (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection version 2.2 (HDCP 2.2) enabled HDMI inputs and outputs act as a check between 4K devices. They provide a secure connection between a source and a display, to protect data so it can't be copied.)

Q: How does this compare to UHD60?

A: well the first thing I noticed was that the UHD50 projector is much smaller, so likely easier to install. both have native 4k UHD specs. the 60 is brighter (3,000 lumens vs. 2,400 lumens); also the other thing that stood out to me upon comparing, is the throw ratio is different. the UHD60 would work better for a larger room (T.R. 1.39 - 2.22)while the UHD50 with T.R. 1.21-1.59 more suited for smaller or tighter spaces. contrast ratio is better on UHD60, but both are outstanding specs. One can check that little 'compare' box to see them side by side. If you have a smaller space, go with the UHD50, and you can save about $ 300.

Q: What sound bar will this work better with ?

A: while suggesting a particular model of sound bar is not my expertise, I did want to mention that since this UHD50 projector has a fiber optical connection (S/PDIF) on the back panel, using that connection will give better digital sound and surround effects compared to using the 3.5mm (headphone type jack) on the back, as that would only give stereo sound. -- so find a sound bar that has a fiber optical input connection.

Q: Optoma - UHD50 4K DLP Projector with High Dynamic Range - White Can be compatible with Samsung n450 or wich sound bar will be a better compatible . Thank you

Q: Can you live stream programming via WiFi and if so what kind of qualify picture can you expect on 140” screen verse 120”?

A: the quality is almost identical for 120"-140". I have a streaming service attached to mine through a FireTV and it is beautiful.

Q: HI, is it compatible with an apple tv? TY

A: An Apple TV can run though the projector via the HDMI source. the best way to operate any projector is through a receiver which should have no issue running your apple tv.

Q: is this unit wireless. can I use bluetooth speakers. Can I stream movies.

A: Although the projector itself is Not bluetooth, if you attach a streaming device such as a nvidia shield or 4k firestick you can pair it via Bluetooth to a compatible surround sound.
