Really intense film. I was in Cambridge during the events and saw hundreds of police cars converging at fast speed on Watertown, a really sleepy little bedroom town next to Boston, across the Charles River. I remember that being in a lockdown was eerie. Boston and neighboring four towns were affected. All of us stayed inside and police helicopters flew overhead, looking for movement. It was really scary -- like being in a war zone. After the shelter in place order was lifted around 6 pm on the second day, the man with the boat went out to smoke and peeked inside his boat and saw the second bomber semi conscious inside. I was surprised and glad that the police took him alive. They were pretty pumped up as there had been a vicious shooting of an MIT campus police officer the day before. He was killed execution style in his car, with his gun still in its holster. The cold vicious nature of the killing affected the police. Police are a very tight knit group in Boston. Transit cop, University cop -- it didn't matter. The whole experience was as terrible and chilling as depicted. And the spirit of Boston Strong that was born that day was real. The courage of everyone was incredible. And people cheered police after the arrest was made, as shown. Yes, that was very real. Five stars for bringing the whole experience back so realistically. Made me cry. Second bomber: A federal jury gave him death. In a liberal place like Massachusetts. It was the death of the young boy that sealed it. And defendants flipping the bird to a security camera. He was unrepentant and passive during the trial. In the sentencing portion, he read a statement of apology but it did not appear to be his own. Four years later, he sits on death row in a supermax prison in Colorado. Appeals could take years.

Peter Berg and Mark Walberg make their third collaboration in yet another tale of strength and heroism based on a true story. Upon the announcement that a film was going to be made based on the Boston Marathon bombing, I was originally very skeptical and thought the film was in poor taste. However, once I had seen Berg's first collaboration with Wahlberg, Lone Survivor, I was filled with a sense of optimism as I thought that film was very well executed and handled with great respect for the real life counterparts that the film is based on. Through my research into the events of the Boston tragedy, it does appear that the film did take certain liberties with the real life events in an effort to make the film more action driven. That being said, the result is pretty excellent. The film showcases the valiant efforts of the agencies and individuals responsible for bringing the terrorists to justice but beyond that, the film focuses on the spirit of the city through it's people. On top of that Wahlberg, a native Boston son, gives one of his best performances. From a technical standpoint, the 4K disc has a top notch audio visual presentation, despite the film being a 2K upscale. If you are a fan of Berg or Wahlberg and can pick it up for a reasonable price, Patriot's Day comes recommended from this reviewer.

Ok when I watch films I do so on a 180" movie theater screen with full 7.1 surround sound and the Buttkicker transducer system. This is not to Boast but to give an idea of the clarity that I rate both 4k and 1080p films. 1st off regardless if you are huge into 4k or still collect Blu-ray; I will add that with today's (Oppo) upscaling technology along with upscaling technology on theater projectors that the difference between Blu-ray & 4k is minimal. I will say that going over 180" that you will likely see a difference and recommend 4k for 150"+ screens. I found the film to be Perfect for the big screen! There are certain films I get home after buying and wish I would have supported them in the theater too. This film (like Deep Horizen) both with Mark Warburg showed incredible strength through real life stories that were brutally tragic. I did like the fact that M. Warburg was not some super hero, but has started to play the average guy. Don't get me wrong he is no Tom Hanks nor Bendadict Cumberbach but he's actually really good at playing parts with more emotion. I will watch this film again. I'm glad I bought it. There's nothing worse than buying a film that lacks replay-ability. PS> Great to see those little terroistic morons get what was hunted....

This movie got me more in the know of what happened during this sad day in Boston. Seeing this put together after reading about it and watching the news really seems on point. The acting is believable and since I purchased the 4K version I'm happy with the picture. I did not give this 5 stars only because I did not get any wow factor watching it in 4K. I think it would of been just as good if I purchased it in regular Blu Ray. I just expected more because 4K Ultra HD Blu Rays cost about 2X the amount and for that I wanted it to be a better experience. I do have all the 4K equipment so I know it's not my fault. Do not decide against buying this movie because it is a good movie but maybe you can get it on sale.

Sad day of the Boston Bombing with a few lives killed needlessly and hundreds injured or maimed forever. The worst of us was clear to see on this day but also the BEST of us was clear to see on this day as well too! VERY happy that the terrorists who perpetrated this were apprehended and prevented a much worse tragedy from happening in New York! If you love TRUE stories that don't start well as this clearly doesn't but DOES have a much more positive ending then this movie is most certainly for you for sure! Not a Boston native at all but I have a few friends who grew up in Taunton, not overly far from Boston...and they're the greatest people too! Since Mark Wahlberg is a Boston native, I KNEW he'd put on another incredible performance and really made me believe he was actually a Boston cop that day too! One of his best roles I've ever seen him in and I've seen a bunch of them over the years too! #BOSTONSTRONG :-)

The "twin 'bergs" are at it again:director Peter Berg & actor Mark Wahlberg with another film based on real-life events under traumatic circumstances: "Lone Survivor,""Deepwater Horizon." In "Patriots Day," which I was able to get for $9.99 pre-Father's Day(I'm glad I waited) for Blu-Ray/DVD Combo pack, the viewer gets to see viewpoints of not only those injured in the '13 "Patriots Day" Boston Marathon but those of the terrorist brothers, as well. I enjoyed the interplay near the end of film with actor Jimmy Yang, who played college student Dun Meng, and the terrorist brothers. Meng gets carjacked by the brothers & is the catalyst for Boston P.D. & accompanying communities to strike back against the evil forces that threaten citizens(U.S. or otherwise) on American soil. U.S.A.!!!!!! I look forward to the next 'berg collaboration soon!

This film chronicles the events of Boston’s Patriots Day Marathon, Monday April 15, 2013 and related events through April 19th 10:35PM when the 2md Suspect of the Marathon Bombing was captured and arrested while hiding inside a winterized 25’ Sport Fishing Boat. The Producer, Screen Writer, and Director went to great lengths as did its’ entire acting staff to get-it-right and they did. It’s a viewer immersion event – you are in the middle of it all thanks to dtsX and one can very easily get caught-up in the story-line as it does have the capability to reach-out and emotionally touch the audience – it is intensive and realistic. Not only did this film capture the spirit of Boston “Strong” but it also captured the spirit of America the “Courageous.”
