Awesome computer for the price and specs

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Price, Processor, Set upCons mentioned:DisplayWhen on sale for $499, this HP TP01-0034 computer is an awesome deal for a desktop with an Intel i7 CPU. This computer is very fast out of the box. The included 8GB memory (Samsung, Model # M378A1K43DB2-CTD) and 256GB solid state drive (SK Hynix, model # HFM256GDJTNG-8310A) was not enough for my needs so I had to separately buy and install my own 2TB internal hard drive and 16GB memory. The upgrades were easy to install and worth it to add more file storage and memory to my new computer. I added the Western Digital 2TB Black internal hard drive (model # WD2003FZEX) and I added the Samsung 16GB memory (model # M378A2K43CB1-CTD). Now my new computer is lighting fast with the i7 CPU, 24GB memory, 256GB SSD and 2TB HDD. All of the Windows system files and installed program files are on the SSD and my data files are stored on the HDD. For me this computer was perfect for the price since I am not having to waste any hardware with what I needed to add (not replace) since it only has two slots for memory and one bay for an internal 3.5” hard drive. This computer does everything and more except high end gaming. You will have to replace the power supply if you want to add a more powerful graphics card if you want to make this a gaming computer. HP has 18 videos online on how to remove and add the internal components for the TP01-0034 computer @ https://supportvideos.ext.hp.com/detail/video/6074300588001/how-to-replace-the-front-bezel-for-hp-pavilion-desktop-tp01-000?q=TP01-000 Pros: 1) The HP TP01-0034 computer is a great deal when on sale for $499. 2) The Intel i7 CPU is very fast, has 6 cores and 12 threads for processing. (i7 CPU costs almost $400 by itself). 3) The solid state drive is fast. My computer cold boots onto my Windows logon screen in 12 seconds. 4) 8 USB type A ports and 1 USB type C port. 5) Very easy to add and install additional memory and an internal hard drive. 6) Very quite. You cannot hear the fans or hardware running on this computer. 7) Very cool running. This computer does not even get warm nor does it output warm air. 8) Silver case and design is very stylish and it is not as large as the older computers used to be. 9) Comes with 8 extra screws for installing an internal SATA hard drive and also includes an extra SATA power cable. Cons: 1) The CD/DVD drive is vertical, the disk drawer is flimsy and you have to snap the disk on/off the spindle. 2) The keyboard is way too small. The older HP keyboards were just the right size to comfortably use. 3) Only the 4 front USB ports are USB 3.1, the 4 rear USB ports are the slower USB 2.0. That makes no sense. 4) Integrated graphics 5) The power supply is only 180 watts. The pros clearly outweighed the cons for me. The HP TP01-0034 desktop is a great computer, especially for $499. Best Buy also had the HP 27f 27" IPS LED FHD FreeSync Monitor (model # 2XN62AA#ABA) on sale for $109 and this computer easily displays 4K video in full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution at 60Hz with this monitor. Together, the HP 2XN62AA#ABA monitor and HP TP01-0034 computer is an awesome combination for the price. I included some pictures of my HP TP01-0034 computer showing the back panel with all the rear ports, the inside of my computer after I installed my 2TB hard drive and after I installed my additional 16GB of memory. I hope that my review helps you.

Can't beat the price for the specs
|Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5I bought this to replace an aging I3 PC that I use for my home automation, video server and disk to disk backup of my NAS. It has 6 cores running 12 threads. The M.2 drive is a little on the smaller side at 256 MB, but I added additional hard drives that I had on hand to beef the storage. It is super quiet, they use oversized fans running at a slower speed. This PC has basic upgradability, where a person could realistically add additional hard drives or more RAM - which only should be required for a power user. The typical user should be more than satisfied with the out of the box experience.

Good value on desktop computer w/Intel i7

Quality4 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Processor, Set up, Solid state driveCons mentioned:Windows 10Easy to setup and get running, just used HDMI cable to my Visio TV and solid state drive provides very quick boot up times. The speed is nice and after 3 weeks I am very satisfied with this purchase. No instructions came with this unit and all needed help is included on HPs online help if needed. There is some bloatware included w/ windows 10, but that is what HP is pushing and is expected. Overall I would say it was a Best Buy for me.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Price, SpeedGreat price for an I7! Works great and keeps up with Facebook games. Very fast! Although I want to say that they sure don't make computer's like they use to! Very light, power supply is very small so not sure if it can be replaced or not. I like that it is lighter, so much easier to handle.

A PC that wil last for years....
|Posted .Owned for 1 year when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Getting a tower for my desktop PC has always been a 'no-brainer', since they are just more robust and durable than a laptop and if you make a good choice, can last from five to seven years. My HP Pavillion does a great job and the i7A Core i7 is better than most systems for multitasking, media-editing and media-creation tasks, high-end gaming, and similar demanding workloads. Do your homework, get a good PC, be patient till it goes on sale, then buy it!

Excellent Desktop PC

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I decided to upgrade my PC. I let this sit in the box for a month because I did not want the hassle of switching computers. However, I am really glad that I finally upgraded my outdated PC. This computer is wonderful. It really wasn't too bad to switch my information over and start using WIN10. I had been using it on my work laptop, so I was able to configure this PC how I wanted it. It is very user friendly. I highly recommend it.

Q: QuestionAre you saying definitively a standard-sized ATX power supply can't be used to have a better video card other than something similar to a Radeon 550? HP's site indicates: "One PCIe x16 socket (for discrete graphic card)." That implies no limitation.
Asked by Fox88.
- A:Answer Yes, I say definitively, categorically, absolutely, without a doubt, the HP Pavilion TP01-0034 does NOT provide an ATX format power supply in the stock configuration. Nor will an ATX power supply readily fit into the chassis, mechanically or electrically, so the stock configuration cannot be readily upgraded to higher wattage. And by "ATX" I mean it will not fit ANY of the varieties of industry standard off-the-shelf PC power supply formats: ATX, SFX, Flex ATX, mini-ITX, TFX, etc. It is a physical format proprietary to HP that nobody else makes, is incompatible with everything prior, and which HP doesn't document, at least not yet. HP parts and documentation does not offer any power supply upgrades for their proprietary original part in this system, just an identical replacement part for failures. HP specs correctly state that the PCIe x16 socket will accept a "discrete graphic card". That compatibility is restricted to graphics cards that take power entirely from the PCIe connectors, even though HP doesn't explicitly state that restriction. HP should clearly disclose this restriction; they do not, but that doesn't mean that they're promising no restrictions. The stock system has no power supply unused capacity, and does not provide connectors, for the separate 12V power connections that most graphics cards require. A few lower-performance graphics cards like Radeon 550 types do not require separate 12V power connections, so these are eligible upgrade candidates for this system. The stock system provides a 180W power supply, which is already fully budgeted into running the CPU/motherboard, USB ports, upgrading PCIe cards, and upgrading M.2 or SATA drives. There is no spare capacity for any upgrade that demands additional power than these items. Of course if you're a tinkerer you could wrangle and splice-in any 12V power supply. You could fit it in the space available, or run power in from an external power supply outside the case. My point is that there is no *ready* way to upgrade this with an off-the-shelf power supply that just bolts on and plugs in. In that scenario you'd also be fussing with air circulation and adding fans. And worrying about whether your modifications are reversible or voiding the HP warranty. I'm not unhappy with the proprietary HP power supply. It is very efficient, compact, cooled, and quiet. The stock power supply runs the stock system fine, including my HDD drive upgrades. The case hardware is splendidly simple but effective. HP has well-done videos showing how to disassemble, repair, and install upgrades in the case. If HDD drives and PCIe cards are the only upgrades you'll need, this is an economical and high-quality design. I'm very happy with it because my application happens to fit those limitations, and it was a great bargain price of 500 bucks for Black Friday 2019. It makes a fine business or home computer with an i7 processor and built-in 4K UHD graphics. Just don't fool yourself that this is a mini-tower that you can plug in all sorts of power-demanding upgrades such as high-end gaming graphics cards, or that it is easy to work around this weakness of being non-standard in the power supply.

Q: QuestionIs there slot available to add an HDD to expand the hard drive?
Asked by Nate.
- A:Answer Yes, you can add up to 2 additional hard drives or SSD drives.. There are 2 free SATA ports on the mother board (1 with SATA cable, 1 without SATA cable), and spots for both the 3.5" and 2.5" drives to be mounted internally. There are no external drive slots, only internal. Also didn't see another slot for M.2 drive either..

Q: QuestionWill this desktop support Dual Momotors?
Asked by Stephen.
- A:Answer Yes - I bought this computer today and am using dual monitors. One port is HDMI and the other is VGA so you'll need to make sure you have one of each cable.

Q: QuestionWhat brand and specs is the 8GB memory card? I want to buy one exactly like it to fill the 2nd slot.
Asked by ronnieboy.
- A:Answer The general answer for identifying compatible RAM is to go to Crucial’s website to enter your computer’s model number to see RAM options that are guaranteed to be compatible. I have done that successfully before, and that is what the Best Buy salesperson did when I tried to buy though them. (I understand Corsair is similar, but have never used them.) Unfortunately, salesperson said that Best Buy did not sell singles RAM cards, only pairs. So I ended up buying a single card through Amazon. Specifically, I bought the following for my HP PAVILION - TP01-0034 - i7: Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) SR x8 DIMM 288-Pin

Q: QuestionDoes it have any graphic s?
Asked by Cjm.
- A:Answer Yes. Has 1 PCI express slot for 6 inch length single fan GPU. Only 180W power supply though so you’ll need another PSU at 300W or more.

Q: QuestionWould this PC be a good candidate for business? Can it perform and maintain speed when multiple spreadsheets are open, word docs and PPT development at the same time and then still search web and have email up and running? Can you expand ram and speed?
Asked by Joe.
- A:Answer This system has an Intel i7 processor which should be able to do everything you asked above. The memory can be expanded if needed, there is an empty slot for additional RAM. The limitation would be more on the Hard Drive space, the drive that is included is small by today's standards. It is possible to have an additional hard drive added or you will have to rely heavily on the cloud storage if you are dealing with lots of files. Lastly this computer does not have a dedicated video card and due to the limited power supply I am not sure if I would recommend installing one. If you are planning on doing any type of video editing I would recommend purchasing a computer with a dedicated video card. If you are only working with Word and Xcel type files this computer will be fine.

Q: Questioncan i add a larger ssd drive and can i add a graphics card
Asked by larry.
- A:Answer You should be able to add both to this system. Note that this has M.2 slots as well so you may consider using an M.2 SSD vs the standard type. From the Spec Web page: Because its a smaller case you may want to check with the video card manufacture to make sure it would fit in the cabinet and also make sure that it is either a PCI-E x1 or x16 card. Number Of Internal 3.5" Bays 2 Number of M.2 Slots 2 Number Of External 5.25" Expansion Bays 1 Number Of PCI-E x1 Slots 1 Number Of PCI-E x16 Slots 1
