Philips Hue White Ambiance BR30 Bluetooth Smart LED Bulb
I've been getting color lights for a while and decided to try these out since they're so much cheaper - definitely worth sticking to these. We rarely, if ever, use the wider color gamut for the other Hue bulbs and the range of soft colors on this is all we truly need. Works well with Homekit adaptive lighting as well.
These lights fixed a major problem of mine, I have 8 BR30 bulbs in my man cave and even buying the softest LEDs it often was too bright for watching content. This fixed that problem as I got 8 of these and set a movie mode screen where front 4 turn off and back 4 dim to still be able to see if going to the bathroom or enjoying a snack. They are very pricey, yes, but they are a quality product and the app is quick and responsive. I wish there were more accessories that go over existing switches so people don’t turn them off but that isn’t a problem of the bulbs themselves.
These work great with my iPhone, Mac, Apple TV and HomePod. It's great to get into bed and then tell Siri to turn off the lights. Plus I've even made a "getting into bed" siri shortcut that automatically turns off the lights directly above my bed, but leaves two on further away, plus turns on two Hue Gos that I've got set up as lamps! I love it!
These are a bit pricey with all of the competition of smart bulbs out there, but I wanted quality for the main living room so I purchased with my BB rewards. Purchased 4 of these and the first three I had no problems connecting but the 4th one wouldn't connect so it took a little more time to figure out how to connect without using Alexa, but I got it! I love the different whites of lighting it provides. Way better than the old halogen. I'm hoping to capture better photo images when we have gatherings as well, since the lighting is so much better and gives you warm to cool options. If you're interested in the colored hue option bulbs, I would suggest Sylvania BR30 bulbs. I have these in another room and you get the same quality for half the price of the Phillips Hue Color.
I am in my 70s and I have a number of Hue bulbs in my house. I use them with Alexa for voice control and also program them for when I am away. These completed my home setup.
They are easy to set up and use for both purposes.
Love these bulbs! I'm changing out all my bulbs as time and cash permits. I live that I can set them to timers keeping them from being left on all night by the kids.
I also like the times, turn them on in the morning without bothering a switch. Help me wake up as well, my brain knows it's time to get up.
A:AnswerThese lights are dimmable and color temperature adjustable. You can dial them into exactly what you want. Make sure you have a Hue Bridge to use them otherwise check out Phillips other line of smart bulbs that only require WiFi to work, Wiz.
A:AnswerActually that's incorrect. The ambiance bulb is the dimmest BR30 that Hue sells. The non-ambience, non color changing Hue BR30 is (at least) 150 lumens brighter. It's less than 3000K color temperature so closer to a warm old incandescent bulb. I can't actually find any specs for color temp range for these adjustable ambience bulbs, but at 650 lumens, you'll need more than one bulb to light any area you actually need to see in.
Any BR30 can/housing will work. I’d recommend taking your measurements and pictures to your local hardware store in case of special considerationS (height of the can, connectivity, etc). There are also various trims to select from based on personal preference. Good luck.
