      First razor for my son

Many years ago my first razor was a Braun and it lasted a very long time before it simply refused to hold a charge one day. Sadly their quality isn't what it used to be so I avoid them now. My son is 13 and he decided he would like to shave so I read quite a few reviews and selected this model as his first razor. After the Braun died I've used another model Philips Norelco with good results so I wanted to stick with the brand. It would be nice if it came with a carry case like my model does but I couldn't see spending much more for the higher tier models that do provide the case. When he is older and shaves more frequently he will have a job and can select whatever model he wants. Hopefully this razor will last him a few years until then.

Probably one of the best you can find for this price. But, compared to my 5 year old higher-end Norelco, I realized there really is something to be said for the next level up razor. FYI, I've used the new razor for 2 weeks. My old one is super smooth on the face, while this one was noticeable rougher. The old was very quiet, this one sounds plasticy and 2-3x as loud. The old one had 3 rings of razors on each head, this one only has one. That said, this one cut just as well as the old one. I I'll return this one and shoot for something closer to the $80-$00 price range since I plan to use it every day for years. Personally, the quality difference is worth it to me.

Shaves as it should. This is my second one. I had to take the first one back after less than 2 weeks. Was in middle of shaving and it just stopped. Was completely charged and nothing. Put it back on charger(just in case) flashed like it was charging for about 5 seconds then went to solid green light(meaning it is charged). Took it off charger, tried and nothing. So, hopefully this second one works better. I will say this...I did have a Norelco charger before this and it lasted about 6 years w no issues before it died.

My previous shaver died so I was looking for an inexpensive replacement. I like the fact that this shaver can be used while being plugged in -- comes in handy when the shaver is completely discharged. Plus, when the battery eventually dies, this shaver can become a backup (by being used with the powered cord). I mention this since I purchased another shaver that could not be used while being charged (while it is plugged in). Overall this shaver does a decent job at a very reasonable price.

Was looking for a replacement Philips Norelco shaver after having my previous one for over 5 years. While there were several in the high end price range, the clipper was a separate attachment. For travel, I wanted to stay with an all-in-one unit. This model has an embedded pop up clipper on the back, and the charging cord plugs directly into the unit instead of a separate charging base, and for less than $50, works perfectly for a nice shave without breaking the bank.

I've only used it dry, but this shaver seems to fit the bill. It does a satisfactory job. I just can't see spending almost ten times the price for a high end shaver, though I would guess they'd shave a little closer than this one. At this price point I simply replace them every few years rather than spending just as much to replace blades.

Battery life is good - lasts me for about 10-12 shaves which works out to about 3 weeks (with alternate day use). The charge time is very long - but this is advertised so can't do much about it - usually charge it overnight. Good value for the price.
