Q: One of the inputs shows "phono". Does that mean I can plug in my turntable without a pre-amp?

A: Yes

Q: Will this pass through HDR?

A: Yes this unit will pass 3D and 4K with HDR. I have had this perticular reciever for about two months now and the only thing I can say negative about it is that it takes about 10 seconds longer than my other reciever to pass audio upon initial turn on.
