The touchscreen display allows you to control this unit and a connected component such as an iPhone, Android smartphone, Bluetooth phone, or USB mass storage class device. Menus appear on screen for making function choices, audio adjustments, and setting up the system. From Connected Car Life: Capacitive touchscreen technology is newer, and is more expensive but features multi-touch gestures and a glass screen. However if you are using Apple CarPlay pinch to zoom will not work, Apple felt it was a distraction to use multi-touch for navigation. A: AnswerIt comes with inputs to add a backup camera AND a second camera. You have to purchase the camera separately. I just added the backup camera and it works great.Answered by AbnMike
- A: AnswerSo whenever you replace your radio you will need a couple things. the kit(which holds the radio in place of where the factory one was), the harness (which is the wiring that allows you to easily interface with the cars wiring), and on most vehicles some sort of antenna adapter (so you can have AM and FM radio). steering wheel controls, SXM, backup cameras and other "add ons" all need more parts to get it installed. As for what ones you need and what is compatible that purely depends on the vehicle you drive.

A: AnswerWhile it has HDMI capability, I’ve found it a bit complicated to use. For my iPhone, I had to buy a an HDMI adapter that wasn’t exactly cheap. So now you have a bunch of wires hanging around, the USB cable, the HDMI cable and the adapter. If you’re into watching movies, it was a lot simpler to download them to a flash drive and then it’s just plug it in and play.Answered by CheapGuy
- A: AnswerI would check the compatibility of your I phone model to the stereo and maybe you need to update your iOS, as for the brake issue, this stereo won’t let you do certain things if the vehicle is in motion I bought a bypass (APPS2Car Parking Brake Bypass Video in Motion Interface Module) it’s cheap and easy to install. Amazon is where I purchased mine. Hope this info helps

Great headunit
This headunit has been amazing. The sound quality is far superior to the factory unit. Combined with the idatalink Maestro i have all the original features such as heated seats and steering wheel. My only complaint is that it only has one usb port on the back. Overall this unit is amazing and would highly reccommend.

Overpriced but good
Radio portion doesn’t play am stations. Apple carplay works great. Had to do a update ios but once I did it fixed connection issues. May be more radio then you will need but I always go for the bells and whistles instead of regretting it later with a lesser model. Installation was great. They said 2 hrs but ended up being 3 total.

Decent when it works
I bought this unit for the wireless carplay and sleek look, but the experience has been less than stellar. Saying that, when it works, it's brilliant. I haven't really bothered with any of the features outside of Carplay as the UI is extremely cumbersome and the hotspot setup is a pain. Carplay is where the trouble starts however, nine times out of ten it will not start automatically on boot-up, which leads to a trip through several clicks of the base system. I'd rather have saved my money and spent the time it takes getting to Carplay by just plugging into a non-wireless sytem. I also don't understand why these new NEX systems don't offer the ability to customize the splash screen, but that's not too much of a concern. Probably the biggest issue with this system are its touch buttons. In the event that you actually manage to hit the small touch window that activates any of the switches, there is substantial lag in any operation. Adjusting volume is an absolute nightmare and best left to the remote that comes bundled with the device (or steering wheel controls should you be so equipped). Otherwise the system is decent and gets the job done, the screen is bright and even in my convertible in direct sunlight is legible. If you can do without wireless carplay, I'd save the money and get another unit. This simply isn't worth the premium for an otherwise lackluster device. Once they sort out the software bugs that may change though.
