  • Key Specs
    • Type of Memory (RAM): DDR4
    • Form Factor: Desktop (The type of computer the memory is configured to fit in.)
    • Speed: 2400 megahertz
    • Latency: 15 (Refers to the amount of time between the moment a memory request is initiated and the moment the request is retrieved by a processor, commonly written as a series of 4 numbers, or timings. Each timing measures the performance of the module according to a specific parameter. Generally, the lower the numbers, the faster the RAM can respond to requests.)
    • CAS Latency: 15 (Column Address Strobe (CAS) Latency refers to the number of clock cycles (for synchronous DRAM) or nanoseconds (for asynchronous DRAM) between the moment an instruction or command is initiated and the moment the data result is available. Generally, the lower the numbers, the better.)
    • Lighting Type: None
    • Memory Capacity (per Module): 8 gigabytes (Refers to the maximum amount of data that can be stored on the memory module.)
    • Memory Capacity (Total): 16 gigabytes (Refers to the maximum total amount of data that can be stored on all included memory modules.)

    • Operating System Compatibility: Windows
  • Speed
    • Memory Speed Rating: PC4-17000 (The RAM's bandwidth rating. The numbers refer to generation and transfer speed and are typically separated with a hyphen. For example, PC3-12800 would indicate that the module is 3rd generation and has a theoretical bandwidth of 12,800 megabytes per second (MBs). The higher the second number, the faster the speed.)

  • Features
    • Buffered or Registered: Unbuffered (Registered (buffered) memory modules are classified by the addition of a register between the memory controller and DRAM modules. When compared to conventional unbuffered (unregistered) memory, this type provides more stability with less electrical load on the controller, making it a common choice for use in robust applications, such as servers.)
    • Data Integrity Check: Non-ECC (Error-correcting code (ECC) memory helps to maintain data integrity within a computer system, protecting it from potential crashes as well as losses or changes to data due to undetected errors. Systems that use ECC have an additional chip on the RAM that acts as the error check.)
    • Memory Channels: Dual (Multi-channel memory increases the rate of data transfer between the DRAM memory and memory controller by adding more channels of communication. The more channels, the more memory bandwidth.)
    • Lighting Type: None
    • Fan Included: false
  • Power
    • Voltage: 1.2 volts (Amount of power needed to support an electrical current.)

Q: My question is what exactly is this, and what is it used for in the computer coming from a person doesn't know too much about computers. Is this an external like for Memory?

A: This product is a chip that goes inside a computer to provide memory. Computers have two different types of data storage: Random Access Memory, or RAM, that stores programs and files while they are being used; and Read-Only Memory, or ROM, a more stable storage that holds files and programs when not in use. This product is the first type. This memory is not external; rather, it is designed to replace or supplement your computer's current memory. If you are considering adding memory to an existing computer, I would suggest researching your current system to see if this product would be compatible. RAM chips have differing physical structures depending on the standard used to build them.

Q: Do I need this in order to run VR? I'm buying my first PC ever and I want one that can use VR and I found one that says VR ready but it also has this in the bundle? I'm a total noob when it comes to anything about PC so I was wondering if I need this

A: The ram memory is necessary for most games now is 16 gigs. 32 gigs is better. The graphics card will be equally important 1080 g force is a good one. You may get by with less but if you want to play with out having to tinker with the dispay settings the beefier the ram and graphics card the better. These will all increase the power consumption and may need a larger power supply. I built a computer for my son and used a 300 sieries mother board ( ROG Maximus Hero X ) with i 7 PROCESSOR AND A SEA HAWK WATER COOLED 1080 GRAPHICS CARD WITH ONLY 16 GIG RAM (WISHED I DID 32 GIG) AND FIGURED I NEEDED 850 WATT power supply to make sure enough at max consumption.
