A: I definitely think that these games would not be too difficult for him to understand. I loved Pokemon when I was that age. The game walks you through what to do next via the storyline so I would recommend getting these games for him. The only difference between playing it on 2dsxl and 3dsxl is that the 3dsxl has 3D graphic compatibility (at least on the top screen and not touch screen).
