This is Puss in Boots before Shrek. It is a story interspersed with flash backs that explain the story behind the boots, his status as folk hero and/or outlaw, and introduces Kitty Softpaws. Antonio Banderas voices the character. Selma Hayek is Kitty Softpaws. As with Shrek, there are other fairy tale characters portrayed significantly different from usual. (Wait until you see the outlaws Jack and Jill.). The story is intriguing. The opening production number is wonderful. (There is a whole special about it.) But, don’t expect a variation of Shrek. Puss is its own story and without the constant vibe of a recognizable, popular music soundtrack. The roots of Puss are in Spanish culture crossed with a spaghetti western. It is a very interesting combination!

A funny and excellent family film that comes with digital to boot! (no pun intended). The origins of this Zorro-esque feline is revealed as we witness how he rose from a lowly orphan to the hero of his village. However, after falsely being cast out as a villain, Puss in Boots returns to find the mythical Goose who lays the golden eggs. Add in an electrifying performance by Salma Hayek as Kitty Softpaws and the quick-witted Zach Galifianakis as Humpty Dumpty and you have motley crew ready to collect their booty. - that is if the nefarious Jack and Jill don't get their hands on them first. Movie looked excellent for this budget priced Blu-ray and the Digital also redeemed with no issue. The special features and bonus cartoon were an excellent touch as well. You don't need to see the Shrek films to appreciate this one. Highly recommended!

Puss in Boots is an okay movie. It has a good cast Antonio Banderas playing puss. Salma Hayek playing Kitty softpaws. And a host of few other people. I think the storyline could have actually been better cuz we got a good look at Puss and Boots and Shrek 2 Shrek 3 not so much as Shrek for but you got a little bit. I think if they could have done the storyline a little bit better it might have been better than okay. I mean you do have some of the old nursery rhymes like Alexander Humpty Dumpty, Little Boy Blue, Jack and Jill, Jack from Jack In the Beanstalk, which all is good but still not good enough. DreamWorks did a really nice job on the CGI Graphics but it's a storyline that actually killed it a little bit for me but if you have the Shrek 1 through 4 from Dreamworks this is a good addition for the kids.
