A:AnswerYou are actually purchasing a 5 year warranty that overlaps with the manufacturer warranty. Your 5 year warranty will most likely end 5 years from the purchase date of your tv. The big trick and heist is the way warranty companies use the word "extended". You and I would assume that after the manufacturer warranty runs out, you will have an extension of 5 years. The fine print will tell you that this isn't true. The word "extended" can also mean that you are extended more coverage for a period of 5 years, with an overlap of coverage during the original manufacturer's warranty.
A:AnswerA Geek Squad Protection plan can be added during the standard return/exchange period for your product. 14 days for most products. You can add the protection plan by speaking with a customer service representative at your local store. You'll just need your receipt.
A:AnswerI was in your same situation. When I bought it i asked for the accidental plan. When i called to ask about replacement they said what i bought was just basically an extended warranty. Sorry you were misguided as well.
A:AnswerThanks for the question. There is no need to register your Geek Squad Protection Plan. We gather your information at purchase, so we should have it all on file, and be able to look it up under your phone number.
A:AnswerI’m pretty sure the answer is Yes. I purchased an initial coverage plan and every year I get notification that it’s time to renew it and I always do.
A:AnswerHi Jim - if you purchase the Geek Squad Protection plan for your new TV and it has an issue that is not repairable, but covered under the plan (ex, 3 or more defective pixels) and your TV gets replaced by BBY/Geek Squad under the terms of your protection plan, the plan would be considered fulfilled. If you wanted coverage on your replacement TV, this would require the purchase of a new plan.
A:AnswerHi Matt. Thanks for your great question. Your Geek Squad Protection plan covering your TV does also cover the remote. If it's having issues and we've troubleshooted it, we'd be happy to get you a replacement! To get started, you can either reach out to your local Best Buy store or contact us at (800) GEEK-SQUAD or (800) 433-5778.
A:AnswerIf the damage is not caused by a drop or other physical damage, a line across the entire screen would definitely be well over 3 dead pixels and should be covered under a warranty or protection plan!
A:AnswerYou don't! You cancel your order, stop payment and return IMMEDIATELY!!!
We Have Closed Our Best Buy Account
The warranty for their televisions is a joke. We have a one-year-old 55” box in our home.
One year ago, we purchased a TV from Best Buy w/warranty. Less than a year into new TV, the sound broke. They sent a technician to our home (during COVID) to troubleshoot, order parts and then come back a week later to replace parts.
Less than 4 months later, same problem. They have sent new technicians out four additional times before deciding that this was not working. They took our TV to troubleshoot in office. We have been without a television now for 3 weeks.
Would you like an Exchange? YES! To bad the exchange policy is an absolute joke. Television was purchased for a sale price of over $500. They offered under $250 for the exchange value. Why? Because I used THEIR rewards dollars to purchase and they do not honor their own rewards dollars. So besides spending enough to earn those dollars and use them towards purchases – they don’t honor them when exchanging their own faulty equipment.
Lesson learned – no more Best Buy purchases for me or my family friends. Shame on their Customer Service. I hope that you are able to learn from our mistakes before you loose out on hundreds of hard-earned dollars.
A:AnswerI’m very sorry to hear that. But That’s BS! I was told my geek squad protection covered anything! That’s why we paid for it! Great, now I have to be concerned about not getting the service I was told I would receive.
A:AnswerThis plan only allows you to replace the TV in the event something happens to your tv. You will be able to upgrade and pay the difference if something happens to your tv.My sharp 58in went out and I used the replacement plan to upgrade to a 60 in lg 4k in which I paid the difference in price. Great peace of mind.
A:AnswerDepending on what caused the TV to be unable to be fixed. (Warranty covers basically everything except for accidental damage caused by the user or their environment) they will just replace the TV.
