I have a 38" wide dresser-- will this be able to fit? null

The distance between the outer sides of the legs are 36.61".

It will not fit because the product width is 44.1 inches long and the legs are towards the end of the TV. You CAN purchase a separate middle stand that you can via the mounting holes instead of the side legs the TV comes with which I did and worked perfectly.
