CNET just confirmed the M series uses 60hz panel. The refresh rate being 120hz is fake news as suspected. The TV still got great review.

The "effective" rate of 120Hz is achieved by inserting a black frame between frames via the "Clear Action" being toggled to "On". Therefore the physical refresh rate is 60Hz, whereas the software refresh rate is an " effective" 120Hz.
