It honestly will depend on the phone that your mother currently has and whether this phone is an upgrade [totally new], downgrade [had a smart phone and is now just going with something simpler] or just a sidegrade [same type of phone, just newer]. My previous phone was a TracFone but an older model to this Alcatel model. They tried to transfer the contacts at the store for me but my phone was too old to be compatible with that sort of link. If you are going from a smart phone to this flip phone, there might also be some difficulties. In the end, I would suggest showing the older phone you have to a tech support person at the store to see if they've done successful transfers with it. If they've done a successful transfer before between the two types, they'll be able to let you know immediately and should be able to do it for you at the store. The store I went to even had a manual cable set-up when they made the attempt with my old phone so there are options.
