The Optane memory helps with tasks the computer knows you do fairly frequently by loading them to the 16gb of storage and making things load much faster. I can boot the computer up after a shut down and I'll be logged in within 15 seconds at the most!

Optane is basically Intel’s trademark version of Smart Response Technology (SRT). It does not replace a traditional mechanical (think spinning) drive or a solid state drive, but it does greatly enhance access to your storage. I have an Alienware PC with Optane and have noted improvements in the initial boot-up. It's not quite as fast as my Gaming machine with SSD, but still notably faster than a similar PC without Optane. The Alienware is a very solid machine and will play any current game on the market.
