“I cannot get this to work without a headset connected to it. I thought it's supposed to work with or without a headset. I have it plugged into a new HP laptop.”

• I had the same issue. The microphone hijacks both the microphone and speaker resources on the computer. Go to your audio settings and deselect the microphone as the speaker resource. Select whatever speaker you normally use instead.
