Q: I cannot get this to work without a headset connected to it. I thought it's supposed to work with or without a headset. I have it plugged into a new HP laptop.

A: I had the same issue. The microphone hijacks both the microphone and speaker resources on the computer. Go to your audio settings and deselect the microphone as the speaker resource. Select whatever speaker you normally use instead.

Q: What the radius distance of sound pick up?

A: I verified it is usable for video conferencing at least 10 feet in any direction.

Q: Is this microphone compatible with a Samsung tablet for recording?

A: I do not think so. According to our tech specs the basic system requirement are USB 2.0 port, OS Support:= Win XP / 7 / 8 / 10 and Mac OS 10.1 or above. There is no support for iOS or Android at this time.

A: Just like any mic, you do not see volume controls on professional mics. Audio Technica, AKG, Sony, and on do not put volume control on a mic. The volume is controlled by either an audio mixer, interface, or software on the computer. Windows or Mac OS allow you to control audio volume through their settings software or you can use a DAW or other software.

Q: will this mic through the usb port access the computer to instigate a command?

A: As long as the software you use allows you to access the audio INPUT and change to the mic driver then YES you can do this.

Q: It appears the USB cable comes with this. How long is the cable?

A: About 2.5 feet. It's meant to sit close to the computer or directly in front for best recording results.

Q: So am a bit confused, lets say the microphone is on, now when someone is speaking their voice would come out of my computer speaker, won't this microphone pick up their voice and create a somewhat echo for the person on the other end?

So far, works really well. Recommended.
So far... five stars! Easy hook-up with USB A (and C adaptor). Worked right away. Mute button is handy. My desktop computer did change speaker audio to USB Mic, so I had to change that back (no problem). Reproduction of my voice is very good - clear, not tinny. Extremely small size - slightly smaller than the base of a 12oz. soda can. There is a headphone minijack. I have to right-click the speaker icon on the Taskbar to switch to headphones instead of normal speakers. And then I switch back again when done. Not a big deal. I even finally set up Cortana, and it works surprisingly quickly. Solid quality piece.

Underrated Superstar Microphone.
This is a fantastic product for any conference/remote meeting needs. For the price, I don't think it can be beat. I used this recently for an oral examination for my PhD and there were no hiccoughs or bugs. All I had to do was plug it in. There were no drivers or odd proprietary software, just plug in and select it as the input device. The audio was clear and audible from everywhere in the 50'x20' room.
