A:Answer It will work with a lamp with an inline switch - BUT - you would have to keep the inline switch always set to "on". If you set the inline switch to "off", Alexa will not be able to turn the light on again. By keeping the inline switch set to "on", the Amazon plug can itself be turned on and off using Alexa, thereby controlling power to the lamp. As long as the inline switch is on Alexa can turn the plug on to let power flow to it. If you turn the inline switch off, Alexa would be able to turn the plug on and allow power to flow to the lamp, but with the inline switch off the light will not turn on.
If you still have the TPlink plug, you can install the Kasa app on your phone. Then you can enable the Kasa skill in Alexa to integrate Alexa with the TPlink plug.
