Will this thermostat alert me if my furnace fails? null

Hell Jim! There currently isn't a feature in this device to alert you but you are able to set up routines using Alexa in the Alexa Smartphone app to alert you if your temperature falls below or raises above a certain temperature. So you could in a sense create a feature that would alert you. In the Alexa Smartphone app on you phone, you can go to More>Routines>Plus Sign and then follow the onscreen instructions to set up a routine using your thermostat.
