For general use you won't see much of a difference. However, the i5 is clocked at 2.4 GHz with the i3 running at 1.9 GHz. The i5 will out perform the i3 when it comes to tasking programs and higher work loads.

Core i5 will be better for media creation, multitasking, and will be an improvement if you regularly complain about your PC being slow. Essentially, the Core i5 processors have more capabilities than Core i3 CPUs. For the most part, you'll get faster CPU performance from the Core i5 parts over Core i3.
