Yes. Remove screws around perimeter of bottom, pop it off, HD is easily accessible and removable. I replaced it with an SSD with no problems. Be aware, though, that Windows 8.1's full system image backup can not be restored to a smaller drive (changing partition size doesn't help). You'll have to use 3rd party backup software if you want to make an exact restore of your current system to a smaller SSD. If you want to do a new install of Windows, this isn't an issue.

With previous experiences (I open other new high-end Asus laptop), they are serviceable, but might take longer time. The SECOND HDD in Asus high-end model is hidden UNDER the motherboard which has to be removed first. The first HDD is right under the base cover.
