A:Answer Me, too!. After some research, I disabled the Asus 'auto-update' feature and set it to manually prompt me when it wants to go surfing for regular updates.
I also found out that Windows, and a lot of other apps, have similar defaults set to 'auto-update' which need to be reset individually to stop unwanted wake ups. In addition, most auto-wake-ups never let your PC go back to sleep until you open the lid because it needs to let you know that some form of update was performed, although you must search for specifics of what the update entailed via control panel.
I don't like the idea of a ghost in my machine so I set everything to the 'manual update' mode to ensure my laptop stays peacefully at rest. I prefer to pick and choose each update because I have found some to be very questionable and unnecessary.
