“I just bought this motherboard a couple of weeks again for my build for the new 5900x. I’ve never had a AMD before. Is the latest version bios already installed or am I going to have to buy another amd cpu in order to update before using my 5900x?”

You do not need an alternate CPU, this board supports USB BIOS Flashback. I bought mines about a month ago, May 2021 and it was already installed with the latest bios for Ryzen 5000 Series.

It should boot fine but you will want to update for best performance. I have a 5800x and it runs great with it!
