QuestionThe specs list a PCIe ssd, this does not mention if it has DRAM, if it's gen3/4(x4?), or the size (ex. 2280) The expandability is also omitted, does it have another m.2 slot? What size? or is there SATA3?

- Answer The board has M.2 NVMe 2280 PCIe 3.0 slots. Two slots. 1TB stick in one slot, the other is one is empty. There is no 2.5 SATA SSD drive slot on the board

QuestionAfter a few days and a few updates, the iGPU options (off, on, auto) are now gone. Anybody else notice this?

- Answer Yes Bios 4.02 Killed battery life to under 3 hours and disbaled the iGPU switch. If you go directly to Asus's website they just released 4.04 which fixed these issue's today.

QuestionIf there is 8GB RAM soldered and an 8GB in a SODIMM PCIe slot, then how is it that the Asus website says that it's upgradeable to 48GB? Is there a new way to add memory that I'm not aware of? The biggest stick of RAM that I have found is 32GB.

- Answer On this link: https://rog.asus.com/fi/laptops/rog-zephyrus/2021-rog-zephyrus-g15-series/spec (site is quite a mess and some data is just missing) the models GA503QM-HN125T, GA503QR-HQ017T, GA503QR-HQ008T, GA503QR-HQ092T, GA503QR-HQ115T have 8GB RAM soldered. Max Capacity of RAM is 24GB. Models: GA503QS-HQ004T, GA503QS-HQ021T, GA503QS-HQ071T and GA503QS-HN072T have 16GB DDR4 on board. On this site: https://rog.asus.com/laptops/rog-zephyrus/2021-rog-zephyrus-g15-series/spec the models GA503QM-HQ120R, GA503QM-HQ121R, GA503QR-HQ098R, GA503QR-HQ099RS have 16GB RAM on board. Max Capacity of RAM is 32GB. Also QM models are 3060, QR should be 3070 and QS 3080. There is no single word about this BB model (GA503QR-211.ZG15) anywhere. And it is one of those 8GB soldered model. That should be the reason for cheaper price.

- Answer Yes it says on the page that it has a 15 day return policy. So you can test it out for like 14 days and then return on the 15th if you want to.

- Answer No it does not if you want a MUX switch you'll have to go to brands like eluktronics or others that use the clevo chasis and I think MSI may have mux switches on some of their laptops not sure.

- Answer Great question. Max-P is for top performance. Max-Q is for efficiency. Max-P uses more power, that means more frames, more heat, and shorter battery life when the Nvidia GPU is active. These are spec'd at 110-150w and need thicker chassis, creative cooling solutions, and lower expectations of portability/weight/sound. The Max-Q sacrifices raw performance for a cooler, smaller, more portable package. These should be 80-90W and can fit into sub 1" thick computers while staying quiet and somewhat cool under middling loads. This unit is a Max-Q or on the low end of the Non-Q spectrum.

QuestionIf lit is closed would have termal issues? if I connect the laptop to an external monitor with the lit closed will the ventilation system (the one where the keyboard goes upa litlle bit up to let fresh air enter the componet) would that affect thermals?

- Answer The way the rear exhaust is designed the closed lid doesn't block airflow at all, so in terms of making an appreciable difference of several degrees or more, no. The small difference in radiated heat from keeping the lid partially open may or may not be noticeable but is likely to have less than a degree impact. Having this on a ventilated pad or stand will more than offset any gain from a partially opened lid though!

- Answer This specific config has only shown on the Best Buy site so far. It will certainly launch elsewhere, likely after the 2/15 launch. The pre-order came and went twice on the 14th. Reddit /r/Laptopdeals is a good place to track links for new offers.

- Answer According to their site, 16GB is soldered on the board and has one upgradeable slot. They list 32GB as the max supported amount (so you could install one 16GB stick), but that would have to be verified later in reviews.

- Answer Yes, it already appears on the Asus website (as coming soon), it looks like it'll be $2499 and comes with some other spec bumps. Whether we'll see it on here is less certain.

- Answer It hasn't been announced yet. Based on Youtube videos and press releases, rumor has it that they paired the G15 with a 200W adapter for the barrel plug. If this is the case, we might not be looking at a Max-Q 3070 instead we may be looking at a thermal appropriate Max-P variant. I do not anticipate a a top spec TGP with an ultra thin chassis, but they also didn't specify Max-Q for this model as they did with several others. The lower power consumption of the CPU may allow them to borrow the unused cooling capacity. I could see the G15 cooling a 90-100w card without sounding like a turboprop at the loading screen.

- Answer Yes, however to take full advantage of this laptops RTX 3070 GPU and features such as G-Sync, you will need to use a USB-C to DisplayPort as the HDMI is linked to the integrated graphics.

- Answer The HDMI port is 2.0b so that will max out at 4k60. The USB-C ports are 3.2 Gen 2, with displayport/Gsync but I do not believe that will go over 4k60 either. With a mobile 3070, I am not sure that it would have enough power to fully utilize 4k120.

- Answer If you use the usb type-c displayPorts they tap directly in to the GPU which should give you excellent results. If you plug in to the HDMI you will see a decrease in graphical output as it bypassed through the onboard cpu's internal graphics.
