  • QuestionIs the RAM upgradable?

  • QuestionCan I use the USB-C port for charging? (as in dc in).

    Asked by person.

    • Answer While the Asus reps' answers are technically correct (you cannot use the USB-C port to charge the laptop), you absolutely can use USB-C chargers to charge this laptop if you're willing to buy a simple adapter that can be found online for less that $10 US. You plug your USB-C charger into the adapter, and plug the adapter into the barrel charger of the laptop. Works perfectly. This is the adapter I use, but any with the same specs will work: Cablecc USB 3.1 Type C USB-C to DC 19V Adapter PD Emulator Trigger 90 Degree Angled (4.0x1.3mm) You also need a charger with high-enough power to do this. I use this wall charger and it works perfectly: "MacBook Pro Charger, Anker 60W USB-C Power Adapter, PowerPort Speed 1 Compact Type C PD Wall Charger, for MacBook Pro/Air 2018, HP Spectre, Dell XPS, Matebook, iPad Pro, iPhone, Galaxy and More" Also, on the go, I use a portable power bank to do the same thing. Here it's very important to get one that not only is high-enough power, it needs to support "PD" (Power Delivery). I use this one specifically: "USB C Portable Charger RAVPower 20000mAh 60W PD 3.0 Power Bank 2-Port Power Delivery Laptop Charger" Hope that helps! Don't let the absence of direct USB-C charging turn you away from this laptop. This is an excellent computer and is a steal at the current sale price of $499.99 (at the time of my writing this.)

  • QuestionIs the CPU's TDP locked at 10w?

    Asked by Zenbookasker.

    • Answer Asus offers two fan profiles in the MyAsus app, which also act as power profiles. Silent favors low noise, but caps the CPU at around 10W, while Auto is a balanced mode that allows the CPU to run at between 15-25W in sustained loads.

  • QuestionWould the non expandable 8 GB of RAM on this be enough for Lightroom?

    Asked by BirbTechEnthusiast.

    • Answer Here's a section of my review concerning Lr and Ps. As for processing speed the Zenbook and Nitro 5 (16 gb, Core i5 8300H, GTX 1050 /4gb) took apx the same time to render photos in Adobe Lightroom Classic (9.3 ARC 12.3). I took 30 RAW photos with my EOS R (30mp) and rendered them to resized JPGs (4000X2667 72dpi) Both computers took 16 seconds to do 10 photos and 46 seconds to do 30). That’s just for an example for comparison. Results can vary depending on how much editing you do per photo. Responsiveness for making adjustments and panning when zoomed in, was also the same. Fast and responsive.

  • QuestionIs the Nvidia mx 350 in this laptop the 10W or 25W version?

    Asked by ZODD.

    • Answer Don’t listen to the ASUS rep they are wrong it’s a 10W MX350. After doing a lot of research I found a review stating it’s only 10W with the GPU clocks at 937Mhz thats the 10W . 25W MX 350 GPU clocks are 1468Mhz , I would love to be proven wrong but I think the ASUS rep here doesnt have a clue......unfortunately all that does is spread false information. :(

  • Questiondoes anyone know why and how to fix the keyboard, the keyboard is not responding after coming out of sleep mode it seems, does start working again after a restart of the zenbook. does not act up everytime.

    Asked by packersfan036.

    • Answer I'm also experiencing this issue. Same exact model: zenbook 14 q407iq. After standby for a few minutes, the keyboard won't work so I need to reboot my device for the keyboard to work again. I used the Myasus app to update everything as well as the Windows update. I'm currently in version 2004. I just bought the laptop last week. So there's almost no other apps installed aside from chrome and microsoft office that may cause glitch in the system. I'm only using Windows Security as my antivirus. I think this is a bug issue. I hope Asus will release an update very soon or I'll return this unit and get a Lenovo or HP instead.
