  • QuestionI live in a condo with a garage upstairs. I want security coverage of my garage. I have two questions: can I mount the camera to a tree using the screws? and would WiFi in my condo work to operate the camera upstairs, or is that a WiFi network question

    Asked by AMD.

    • Answer Hello AMD and thank you for your question! As long as the tree can withstand the weight and screws from the device, I do not see an issue with mounting it there. Additionally, as long as you can connect the device to a consistent 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network via the Sync Module, it can be placed wherever you need. Hope this helps! Have a great day!

  • QuestionI already have a blink camera mounted at the front of my house. I would like to add the outdoor 4 to reside inside a birdhouse in my backyard. Can I just buy the outdoor 4 without the sync module and connect it to my existing one?

    Asked by Cathy.

    • Answer Hi Cathy! Yes, you can add the Blink Outdoor 4 camera to your existing sync module without purchasing a new one, as long as your current system uses a compatible sync module. The Blink Outdoor 4 is compatible with the Blink Sync Module 2, Blink Sync Module 3 (Sync Module XR), and the newer Blink Sync Module Core, which can each connect up to 10 cameras including various Blink models like Indoor, XT, XT2, and Mini cameras. However, it's important to note that the Blink Outdoor 4 is not compatible with the original Sync Module 1, so if you have that older version, you would need to upgrade to a Sync Module 2 or newer to use the Outdoor 4. At Best Buy, you can purchase the Blink Outdoor 4 camera separately as an add-on camera without a sync module, or you can buy it bundled with sync modules if you're setting up a new system. Since you already have a Blink camera mounted at the front of your house, as long as it's using a Sync Module 2 or newer, you can simply purchase the standalone Outdoor 4 camera and add it to your existing system through the Blink app, which will allow you to place it in your backyard birdhouse and manage both cameras from the same app. Hope this helps and have a great day!

  • Questionwhy do you need the sync module

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer gThanks for reaching out, that is a great question! The Sync Module Core is the central hub that makes your Blink Outdoor 4 camera system work. Here's what it does: Essential Functions: Connects cameras to Wi-Fi: Acts as the bridge between your cameras and home network/internet Stores video clips locally: Includes built-in storage so you can save recordings without a subscription Manages multiple cameras: Controls and coordinates up to 10 Blink cameras from one module Enables remote access: Allows you to view live feeds and recordings through the Blink app from anywhere Powers camera features: Enables motion detection alerts, two-way audio, and cloud storage options Why You Need It: Without the Sync Module, your Blink cameras can't: Connect to the internet or your phone Send you motion alerts Save or upload video clips Be viewed remotely The Good News: Since your bundle includes the Sync Module Core, you're all set! You won't need to buy anything else to get started. If you later expand to more cameras (up to 10 total), they'll all connect to this same Sync Module - you won't need additional modules unless you exceed 10 cameras or want to place cameras in different locations far from the module. I hope this information helps, have a great day!

  • QuestionCan this item be put up using adhesives or does it have to be screws? I live in an apartment and prefer not to use screws.

    Asked by FlamingoNugget.

    • Answer Hello FlamingoNugget and thank you for your question! Out of the box, the only option to mount your Blink Outdoor 4 camera is with screws. There are a variety of non-Blink branded options available for purchase online that can turn your mount into an adhesive mount. Hope this helps! Have a great day!

  • QuestionWould this be a good security camera to take on vacation for a hotel or VRBO rental?

    Asked by Marian.

    • Answer Hello Marian, The Blink Outdoor 4 security camera can be moved and transported yes. However, I would only recommend using it on a safely secured network. A Guest Network at a Hotel for example is generally open to anyone else on the Network. Most Hotel guest networks require a login via a web browser as well, which the Blink Camera's do not support. These Cameras would work at a VRBO as it is a more private network however, I would be very cautious at any sort of time share or rental property as the owner of the rental may also have access to the network as well. If you would like to set up a Blink Camera while you are traveling, this can be done on a private network such as a Hotspot or Travel Antenna. This would be the safest way to proceed as you would be the only person with access to a private network. I hope this helps!

  • QuestionIs it water/weatherproof?

    Asked by Jj.

    • Answer Hello Jj and thank you for your question. The Blink Outdoor 4 is rated IP65 weather-resistant and can be mounted to a variety of outdoor surfaces. If the port cover is removed, the camera is no longer weather-resistant unless it's powered through its USB-C port using a weather resistant USB-C adapter (sold separately). Hope this helps! Have a great day!

  • Questionhello can use inside

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hi --, Yes, you can use outdoor 4 wireless smart security cameras inside because they are designed to be weather-resistant, not just weather-proof. The outdoor cameras are safe for both indoor and outdoor environments, but they cannot be used behind glass for motion detection as it will not work through windows. Hope you have a great day!

  • QuestionCan 2 phones be connected to this system?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hi there! To have multiple phones connected to a Blink account, just login to the account you used to set up your cameras on each device. Currently there is no option to share access to your Blink system across multiple accounts in the app itself, though you could use a smart home assistant like Alexa as a way to check on the cameras without needing to share your account info. I hope that helps, have a great rest of your day!

  • QuestionWhat is the range for the audio? If you have it inside in a room can you hear conversations in another room ?

    Asked by Mel.

    • Answer Hi Mel, The Blink Outdoor 4 has a built-in microphone for two-way audio during live view. It’s designed to capture sound clearly from the same area as the camera, but it likely won't pick up conversations from a different room. The audio is intended to support the video feed rather than record distant sounds. Hope that helps!
